Anyone got one? Do you recommend them, are they value for money? I'm interested in buying one, but the price is putting me off at the moment.

Really? What do you mean?
Surely all helmets need to be able to withstand would be at an absolute maximum 100mph?

Well I have been told, not sure how true this is, that albions don't pass the required UK safety standards and shouldn't be sold here.

Surely such a large, global company would have had rigorous tests on it before being sold here? Sorry, but I don't buy into that. :P
What I'm looking for is comfort, and at the moment am using an Albion Club Mark 2, is it any comfier than that?

if you opt for the ACIS version you can inflate the liner to suit you own head shape and size to ensure a perfect fit. The Elite shell absorbs 300% more imapct than the masuri and albion shells do meanin less impact if felt by your head. The liner is finished in a soft velvet feel for comofrt.
We have tested all 3 helmets (Albion/Masuri and Ayrtek) with the BSI in laboratory conditions in order to get this outcome. The maximum force allowed to pass through the helmet is 250g. Ayrtek shells averaged 22.00g comparred to Albion at 57.33g and Masuri at 61.33g.
The albion grill on the clubmark helmet was questions by the BSi when we tested them due to the welds on the mounting plate no being clamped in at either side of the wires. Meaning they wouldnt pass it when tested against BS 7928:1998 test procedure which is reuqired to sell the helmets on the public market. If the weld were to break the wire would be forced in towards the face unlike the masuri helmet where the wires terminate up past the ear and are sandwiched between the mounting plate and helmet shell.

I recommend the nxt. Looks pretty bad, and you take some stick, but its all worth it because it is extremely comfortable, easy to adjust and offers top notch protection

so the albion helmet is ok if u get hit there, and the albion isnt?

According to the lab engineers at BSI yes, the Albion grill should have a mounting plate either side of the wires to enscase them as the wires "terminate" below the shell of the helmet. Whilst Masuri grills wires go up past the shell and are trapped between the mounting plate and shell meaning that if the weld broke the wire would remain trapped.
very confusing stuff but the dark grey grills supplied on the club mark shells we took in to have tested we were told would fail testing due to this
