What do you guys prefer? I personally prefer the gripping cone.
-
I'm traditionalist, so grip cone for me.
-
cone, good to use once you get the hang of it
-
Cone is more versatile. You will find there are certain grips that you can't use with the GM applicator as they don't stretch far enough.
-
Gm ones are rubbish. Never worked properly. I use a traditional cone when at games Etc but made an electric vacuum one for at home. Grip fitted in seconds with little to no adjustments
-
Given how rubbish the GM grip applicator is, I always end up going back to the cone.

Do you have a photo? Looks interesting

not with me but can add one later.

Cone all the way

Best one out there for me is the Kwik Grip (available from Aswani), same principle as the GM, but much more robust, and significantly easier to use.
Can put most grips (except the dreaded octopus) on in seconds, and has the added attraction of starting many Austin Powers manhood-pump gags!

Cool, Thanks.
One more quick question for you guys.
Is it better to have metal at the bottom of the cone or no difference?
-
If its the see through one, then it's easily the best one!
I've had mine for 4 or 5 years and its still excellent!
The only grips it struggles with are the octopus ones!
-
I use the GM pump applicator.
A doddle to use.
The only problem is the GM Control grips I use. They are a right (insert as required) to get on. TBH I think they would be difficult with a traditional cone.
-
There was a great demo on here using a plastic bag - looked a doddle!

Much harder than it looks mate - At least I made it look that way!
-
Have to use both - GM for single or first grip - have to use grip cone for 2nd grip as it gets caught on the GM one

I tried this the other year, ended up ripping my grip when I have swearing and furiously trying to get the bag out. Used a cone or gm applicator since, I agree the gm is a bit ropey but I managed to fit a shock absorba with a gm control over the top of it with a bit of effort.

The plastic bag is easy enough if you only have one grip on your bat, Too much friction if you are one on top of an existing rubber.

swedish made (No Swearing Please) enlarger (austin powers) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WCvULMRUq8#ws)

GM one is good for more stretchy type grips, but the thicker the grip the less effective ( and impossible with an octopus)
Also tough when applying second grip (particularly if the handle is 'thick')....
(I have yet to find a tool that an octopus can use to apply grips to 8 bats simultaneously however it must be said)
Cone is really simple - but personally it seems to stretch the grip somewhat and is a pain in the ass to get it to the right length.
Probably my ineptitude however rather thn the tool !!
