Title: How far you think IPL will go?
Post by: Cover_Drive on April 23, 2013, 05:13:32 AM
IPL is more of a business entity than a cricket tournament. With number of competitors increasing each day, how long you think the perennial entity will stand for? Will it survive or bust?

Whilst India's economy is growing it will carry on

If India starts to slow down, then Id guess that people will forgo the IPL

It has a while left in it yet - the Indian diaspora is large enough and the status of being involved with it so significant within the Indian community that it has legs for a while yet, albeit not as the most arduous test of cricketing skills, which is what it purports to be on occasion.

Players still want to play in it. Crowds are decent (especially the big franchises' night matches) and there is not much that could usurp it for the time being. It will be around for a fair few years yet.
