Title: 1940s Batting basics - Len Hutton
Post by: kouservice on April 23, 2013, 05:18:24 PM
Just came across this video on youtube.
Schoolboys told how to bat by cricketer Len Hutton, late 1940's. Film 30228 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJPEziR9WLU#)

Very nice illustation of batting although the forward defence looks little different to what we are taught these days.

Yes mate, really priceless.

I think these days they teach more to get under the ball rather the over the ball :)

Ha! I am so tempted to stack up my team mates like those school boys and get them to practice every single stroke twenty times before our next match ;)

You'd be surprised how many "old school" coaches still teach like this - Les Lenham (Sussex) and Kevin Lyons (Cardiff U.C.C.E) to name two :)

Terrible technique! Pushing at the ball! Lol

Thats what I meant with the forward defense shot. But remember he was one of the best batsman.
