My club decided to enter a side into the mid year cricket comp this season. We played our first game today and it was an interesting experience playing cricket during what is usually footy season for me. As for the game it was a demolition by my side, we put up 330 in 35 overs and had the opposition all out for around 170 after 20 overs. The standard was obviously a little lower than the summer season but it was still a decent game cricket.
Does anyone else play cricket during what is usually the off season? What are your thoughts on such comps?

I'm guessing you must be playing in Australia? If you try and play outdoors from mid october to end of march in the uk, the pitches are too damp and the ball gets wrecked, when it isn't raining or your hands haven't frozen off...

Yeah mate, playing in Victoria. I don't think we will get too many games played in this comp because of the weather. Today we got lucky with a nice 25 degrees, but it usually gets pretty dodgy down here during winter.
