We had the inauguration of the turf ground in Romania where a weekend tournament was organized between 4 clubs. Loved being part of it and playing on the turf...
The ground is one of the best in Europe.. will let the pictures do that talking:

Are there many of the local community who play cricket in Romania or is it mostly ex-pats?
I saw the plans for the development of that ground, you posted it a while back, and it looks like it will become a great venue...not quite sure it's one of the 'Best in Europe' quite yet though! :D
Pitch itself looks gorgeous. How did it play? Batsman's paradise?

The development is still in the early phase hence the majority are expatriates at present. Cricket Romania has been working on this aspect as now we have a quota system which mandates each club to have minimum 3 ingenious Romanians in the playing 11. Also in this tournament each club played one under 15 Romanian national which came through the ranks from the cricket development program being run since last 3 years. In two years Romania intends to send an under 16 national team to play in tournaments outside Romania.
For a start, the pitch played really well. Curator left lot of grass on it to make sure we get good bounce and as per him it will get better and better with time. Pitch offered some lateral movement off the seam and was not as pacy as I expected after looking at the grass. The ball stopped and came on to the bat probably because the soil underneath is still relatively soft after a long winter.
We expect it to get bouncier and faster with the sun baking on it during the summer. The ICC curator said the grass roots is the strongest he experienced in Europe and he expect it to have lot of pace and bounce with time.

I prefer ingenious Romanian's to indigenous ones!
