Has anyone worked out how much they bowl in the nets - I'm curious as to how long my 'spell' is, as I find my quality varies if I bowl for too long.
Say two hours bowling as one of 4 bowlers - anyone work out how many balls that is?
-
I reckon it's about
18-20 overs Fattus, assuming you don't bat in that time...and you're delivering a ball roughly once every minute and a half. That's a lot of bowling!
Make that 15-18 overs actually..... :D
-
I know precisely how many I bowl. None. I'm good with a Sidearm though!
-
I normally bowl 4 or 5 before I lose interest at having to retrieve the ball from the boundary!
-
Wholly dependent on the number of people in the nets and the length. When there are just three of you, I find I bowl about 10 overs in an hour.
-
We usually have 3 hour nets, I bowl non-stop as one of 4 or 6 bowlers except for 20 mins when I bat and 5 mins to put on my batting gear. I assume I am bowling about 10-12 overs in nets and since we don't really have a run-up that translates to half the number of overs outdoors without a reduction in *quality.
*Quality is being used losely here.
-
I usually turn up, bowl an over or 2 and go for a run round the outfield as my warm up. Then I usually bat for the first 10-15 mins. I'll bowl for the rest of the net without really stopping, unless my knee gives me gip. Probably get through 10-15 overs depending on how many people turn up, and how early they get there.
What really pees me off is bowlers turning up late, bowling a couple of balls and moaning that they don't get a bat ahead of a batsman who has turned up on time.
-
If there is a group of bowlers then the batsman will face about 4 balls a minute when you take into account ball retrieval, reassembly of stumps, moaning at each other for bowling s*** etc.
-
at club training probably around 10, if im with a few friends in nets seriously 15ish

I bowl from start to finish in the spinners net. Possibly 8- 15 overs till my spinning fingers hurt. Out of curiosity how do you treat fellow club players who play below your team , lets say a 3rd team and 2nd who is only a bit less talented than you are. Would you still bowl to him ?. If not , why would you not bowl ?

I would always bowl to the players in the team above and below.
Reasons for above are it tests if you can control your line and length and see if you can force the error from him.
People in lower teams - You will bowl to the tail in the teams you are in, Chances are they will slog you and it then makes you bowl with variation to try and beat their bat.

Bowl at anyone to get them out. We had a 6th team tail ender batting at 1st, 2nd & 3rds training last night. We all bowle as we would I anyone else, if you bowl differently how would they improve??

I bowl millions of balls as I am a human bowling machine, as Mr FC well knows lol
Seriously, it depends on whether I'm chatting to people or not. Some net sessions I've got through 2 overs because I'm gassing and having a little bat. Other days when we are short of bodies it might be 5-6 overs in an hour. Probably got through 10-15 overs at the 3 hour choice net.

But how many of those are legal deliveries Nick? You've got a bigger no ball problem than Mohammed Amir! :-[

lol - need to work on that! You're a fine one to talk as the only person I know of who needs a rest after a net bat :D
