Any thoughts?

What exactly is a laminated bat
are these the bats that have 2 clefts on top of each other?
Thanks :)
-
i think so, just trying to find out a bit more about them
-
Do a search, loads of info and threads knocking about
-
A laminated bat seems to be a bat with two clefts in it.
What is the point of doing this?
-
Dodgy glue making it like a trampoline and you can stick one grade 1 slice and the rest of the bat grade 3. I reckon the grade 1 cleft can make a few laminates and they sell at a premium.
So you sell 3 grade 3 clefts with 1 grade one cleft cut into 3, stuck on top and charge a lot more than you would get from them as individual bats
Could be wrong but it's how I see it

One guy down here in oz is using laminated bats as training aids and I think its a good idea
Check it out

Thinking about getting one
I reckon it will start up a bit of talk in the forum :D

Been talked about solidly for a very long time, nothing new to this forum.
Always fancied one to use in the Sunday games though when there is no league involved and I'm not upsetting anyone
-
Stronger blades? How is this possible with two seperate clefts?
-
Glue adds strength

the reason for laminating can add extra wood to the bat thus giving more width to edges and increased height of the spine
Unfortunately this is illegal to use at first class level and is usually used by bat makers with not as good timber or even off cuts of clefts from where they have broken during the process of being made

As we've said before, please use search to find out information on this topic, it has been widely discussed. And for the record, no, this isn't the main reason for doing it...
