Title: Marlow Veterans CC
Post by: uknsaunders on May 03, 2013, 12:30:33 AM
Hi All,

I run a Vets side that plays 4 games a season in various parts of Bucks. The grounds are lovely venues:-

Marlow Park - 26th May
Hurley - 23rd June
Freith (at Marlow CC) - 14th July
Bledlow Village - 4th August

I may have a spare space for two for some mature players over the age of 30-35 (older the better). Anybody interested give me a shout.

I may be able to play 2 or 3 of these? And you know I'm a veteran!!
I realise that I may look, and have the physique of a 21 year old athlete, but under the toned body, there is a pensioner gradually getting out!

I would be around.

Do you have to be a vet though?  I'm not very good around cow's bottoms or blood 'n stuff.

I think you would cope lol - I've changed the title in case you really did think it was a team of Vets!

Let me know your availability and I'll let you chaps know. There is a website:-

Had a couple of questions on the criteria and you don't have to be that old to play, but more mature in appearance if you get my drift  ;)

Might have a game at Stonor CC Sunday. Wasn't scheduled but their oppo have dropped out. It's a stunning backdrop:-

Game coming up on the 23rd June at Hurley CC. Again a very nice ground near the river Thames on the bucks/oxon border. Anybody interested?

Was asking around for players yesterday and one of the guys gave a lousy excuse of "Can't play Sunday as I'm having to bowl at the Australians"!

I presume he is looking for some cheap wickets as a confidence boost before his next game  :D

Just a quick update on our season:-

Played 3 - Won 1 - lost 2 , we did play another game but it was a bit farcical as we knew the oppo and they were terrible so we mixed the teams up. We won at Hurley and lost at Bledlow Village/Marlow (vs Paragon).

In 2014 we are hoping to expand the fixture list by a game or two, we currently have:-

June 22nd @ Hurley
July 6th @ Cookham Dean v Over 45's
Aug 3rd @ Kimble

All lovely grounds and decent teams. Still looking for fixtures at either end of the season.
