Title: Not sure I've ever completely wasted my time playing t20 cricket before
Post by: uknsaunders on May 07, 2013, 10:42:47 PM
Well that's perhaps not true but tonights t20 was a complete waste of time. Cracking day, decent ground and I had high hopes of getting some t20 practise in. Should've seen it coming when I found out we were put on the artificial and relegated to idiot cricket ie. trying to cope with a deck totally unlike anything ever played on. Oppo flapped away to a host of pie chuckers and pretty much everyone bar me got a bowl. We went out of our way to not bowl our decent bowlers and make a friendly game of it. The grand, non-communicated masterplan for me involved me opening the batting, which I hate. Didn't last long as the oppo decided to take it seriously and some birmingham uni guy wanging it down exposed plenty of variable bounce and splattered my stumps. That's assuming I saw it, because nobody bothered with the sightscreens and that clearly favoured the oppo. Perhaps scoring only 3 didn't help my case but then having to field another 10 overs for the oppo, because we were playing 12 a side was a bit OTT.

To sum up, I fielded 30 overs in a t20, didn't bowl and batted briefly on a totally unrealistic surface against a gloomy background. I sometimes wonder why.

forgot to mention the ball was a disgrace and the outfield dangerous due to it being used for football. Just as well the post match beer was good.

Don't worry about it my friend! I think everyone has those days where nothing goes to plan, just relax and forget about it :)

Scoring 3 makes you not a total TFC, had some occasions in games where all the contribution from certain people has been a dropped catch and various misfields, that's when you really wonder why they bother

I think it was one of those days in general. No one thing would've been a problem but combine everything together and it really was a waste of 3 hours.

you'd loved it. Short legside boundary and some medium pacers bowling nice and straight for you to hit. I could've shuffled down the order then  :D

Felt the same on Saturday in 40-over.  Fielded one ball, diving stop at mid wicket, then a fourth ball duck! #thanksforcoming

Didn't mind not getting any runs if I was there to just bat, but given I'm more a bowling allrounder, a heads up would of been nice. Forgetting to swap fielders and giving me another 10 overs of fielding capped a rank game. The team I play for are a nice bunch of guys and I don't think it was by design lol

not impressive lol, think I took 7/8 balls over it. The oppo had decent bowlers and I was in no rush to get out, but it happened anyway.

Redders you know everyone in Warwickshire lol. I think they had some decent cricketers but are seriously deluded if they thought we played in anything other than participative manner last night. Had we played to win like them I think the result would've been a bit closer. It's the one thing we got straight from the start up north, you either play 2 overs per bowler or 4 overs. Whichever way you go dictates the kind of game you play ie. participative or competitive. Playing 15 8-ball overs and then using 8 bowlers doesn't help.
