Evening guys
I have spent the day today with Jake from Vitas. A few weeks ago I arranged to meet Jake for him to take me to the SS store/factory in the UK as I was interested in getting some SS gear. Jake was excellent to deal with. Here is how the day unfolded
Left home at 7am and got to Vitas about 10am, all the rain this morning made the Dartford tunnel a joke but anyway. Once I arrived I was met by Jake who showed me around Vitas. I must say it is a lovely set up, top end equipment from all the big brands laid out in a smart looking set up with singe lane net fatality as well. We spoke about cricket and all things associated for a while then headed off to SS.
We arrived about 11ish and went and had a look to see what we could find. Organised Chaos would sum it up, boxes and boxes of softs, kit etc the problem though hardly any bats, 2 heritage, some rough looking KP's and a few 309 rocks so disappointed. Jake had asked in advance and was advised loads in stock but they seemed to have sent all the bats out I the mean time.
So instead we went to Hunts County as very close, I have never had a county and Jake said he knew them very well. The guys at county were very nice and they were thousands upon thousands of bats on offer, jake and I looked through loads and I eventually settled on a Triumph with matching gloves.
Once finished there we headed back to Vitas ( McDonald's lunch on the way). Then had a half hour net at vitas. This I think is a excellent selling point to visit Vitas. Not only do they sell top end gear they also have net facilities Nd also demo bats on offer and not just low end crap either, on offer to net with was a GM flare LE, SF platinum B&S Sureme and all range of the Vitas lion range. The GM was a pure gun ( jake please send me a price for that bat) :D. Then I tried out my new Hunts. Must say I was very impressed and think I may have got a beauty.
In a nutshell a lovely day in great company, jake was easy to talk to, knowledgable and passionate about cricket, everything you want from a cricket specialist. I'll topmost some pics of the gear later.
Here is the purchase 2.9 with 9 grains all straight, few blemishes but nothing major, great pick up

Lovely stuff mate, i'm glad you enjoyed your day. It was nice for me to be able to visit a factory without any pressure. What i mean is we were looking for just the one bat to suit you, whereas normally when i go i have to find dozens of belters!
Apologies again for the lack of SS/TON bats, at least we found you a nice bat eventually. :)
This is the result of the post i made recently here: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=23323.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=23323.0)
Basically we are looking to offer the following unique experience:
Purchase any bat from the range, doesn't have to be high end, from either Kookaburra, SS or Hunts from us, and pay our (competitive) prices.
For a small additional fee (approx £10-£15) you can book an appointment to accompany us to the warehouse/factory of Kook, SS or Hunts and spend the day hand picking the stick that is exactly right for you. Of course if something else takes your fancy while you are there, you can take that too, or you can upgrade/downgrade in terms of model/price on the fly too. The payment issues that arise due to this can be sorted afterwards back at our place, no sweat.
You can buy any softs you want from us and pick them on the day too.
You are welcome to come to us first and we will drive you the venue as Chris did, or you can meet us there, up to you. Feel free to have a net at the shop with your new gear afterwards too.
As a forum offer, any guinea pigs like Chris who are looking to give this a try in the near future will get their bat knocked in for free if required, we will also waive the additional fee to book the appointment.
I really need a Kookaburra customer, as i know that SS and Hunts will be plain sailing, aside from being a bit of a jumble sale as we experienced today. But i need to iron out any kinks with regard to doing this at Kookaburra before we look to take this to the wider market.
So if anyone is in the market for a new Kookaburra bat, can get themselves to Peterborough and would like to experience the same process that retailers and cricket pros do when handpicking their Kook equipment, please drop me a pm.
This is an experience no other retailer can offer you currently.

singe lane net fatality as well.
The bowling machine can get some decent speed on it.
I concur with the above. Only been to Vitas once to use the net but was impressed with the set up there.

That could work if Jake is fine with it. Maybe get a forum net going too at Vitas afterwards

Sounds like a possible plan mate.

Sounds like a winner all round.

Happy to take more than one customer along, the more the merrier.

What a great service from Vitas.
Surely this will be a propular choice with the people on here who opt for the bigger brands.
