So finally it has arrived! Been waiting a couple months for this and it is one hell of a bat! This is what I asked for:
Newbery Thruxton profile
2.8 in weight
Minimal concaving
Round handle with oval bottom hand
Hardwood toe insert
Grade 1 with outside edge heartwood (I am a lefty)
What I received was this! The weight is DEAD on 2.8lbs, very impressed Ryan! Picks up like a feather, bottom hand grip is great, profile is stunning, toe insert is immaculate and generally nothing bad I can say about it! I've stuck one good coat of oil on it before I took the pictures and given it a light tap with the mallet and the rebound is superb. Going to be a train once it's knocked in and opens up.
The quality of the finishing is brilliant, and far exceeds the quality of my 3 other bats (Kookaburra, Slazenger, Adidas)
And all of this for £130? You'd think that Ryan was having you on but it is such a good deal, just got to be patient! I am very much looking forward to using it once i've knocked it in and will definately be buying all my bats in the future from Ryan!

From the pictures I could see it looks like a very nice bat. RK seems to be producing some great bats at present.
-
Very nice indeed. I am absolutely loving the bat Ryan made for me last month, the thing is a howitzer.
-
That does look like a steal at that price.
-
Really liking all the rk bats i am seeing. Fabulous looking bat you have mate.

Why do bats have that tiny hole in the toe?

Such a classic profile!

That's made from the lathe when binding the handle, most brands have them but are hidden my toe guards.

Ps. thanks for the review Russ, sorry about the time it's taken but i don't like to rush the bats i make.
Hope she serves you well!

Aaaah! Yes, makes sense.

No problems mate, haven't had a dry enough game to warrant using a good bat yet anyway. I can tell you've put alot of time and effort into making it. Hoping it lasts me a long time but at the same time looking forward to the next bat I order from you! Keep up the good work..

great work Ryan. like the profile of that.

had a tiny surface crack when knocking in the edges. so frustrating haha. the only thing i am struggling with is that it has been pressed very hard and knocking in is going to take a while. should play like a dream after though!

Have spent the weekend knocking it in and I think it's ready to stick a sheet on and go. The ping off this thing is immense for such a light bat, can't wait till it opens up!
