Afternoon Guys,
I have, unfortunately, lost my very able assistants, Jack and Chris, to exams this month, and as it's such a busy time of year, I am struggling a bit on my own...
Before I go into specifics about hours, wages, whether or not you will need to knock in bats etc. I just want to see a hand or two in the air. Is there anyone on here who is willing and able to work for IJC (in any capacity: part-time, full-time, temp, flexi)?
Hopefully hear from you soon.
Cheers,
Paul

No, that's All Rounder Cricket, mate! Not sure if they're hiring, but maybe give them a shout! We are in London...

Move down here, mate - if you've read any Charles Dickens books you'll know that London is the place to seek your fortune... :D

Open a branch in Brighton and I'll run it for you.

Not sure Newbery would be too pleased with that, being just down the road!
-
start one in liverpool... since the romida in maghull closed down closest cricket shops is lukeys in preston and romida in rochdale.

Perhaps - but with a distinct lack of decent independent cricket shop in Brighton there's definitely a gap in the market.

Or open one in worthing, im more than happy to stop selling bathrooms for cricket clobber, and i think itll be far enough away from newbery to stop arguements

is it just me or is this drifting off topic? :D

Interesting that you say that, Dave, as we've had a few people from that part of the world visit the shop and say something similar...

Barringtons would probably be the closest, but they have no idea in their store and the customer service is poor! Romida has gone down hill too and can be quite expensvie! As acko has said, lukeys in preston is probably the best quality wise but its over an hour away! Shame really as there are so many cricket teams round the area!

Whilst I agree with Paul that this is drifting off topic, it's always really interesting to hear this sort of feedback. I genuinely believe there is a gap in the market for a proper cricket specialist chain in the UK, much like what they have in Australia with Kingsgrove and Greg Chappell. I'd be lying if I said that opening up other IJC branches in other parts of the country isn't part of the long term plan. They'd need to have the same "boutique" specialist ethos though, driven on customer service, hand-picking bats etc. It is also, realistically, at least a few years away as it seems to take time to get established in this industry. We are working on it though and trying our best. Hopefully my new recruit can help get us there!
