I hate flat faces, it's not a looker, it's not got 12 inch edges, it's got quite a bit of concaving and it's a Gray Nicolls. Why is it mine?
Simple fact is it picks up well and it's a go-er.
I phoned Globe earlier to find out what happened with my Icon (R.I.P) and they said that they've credited it so I could go in-store and pick out a new bat with £106.50 off. Looked at all the GMs and they were either too heavy to too expensive so had a look at a few others. There was a very nice Kahuna for £106.50 with lovely grains, balance, pick up, but couldn't come round to a Kookaburra. Saw this Gray Nicolls A61 400 and thought "what's that like?" Picked it up and liked the feel, bounced a ball on it and it was surprisingly responsive so spent a little longer with it and decided to pay the £25 difference plus get a face cover.
Don't know the edge/toe/shoulder/spine width etc. But it weighs 2.10 and has 5 grains and some graping.

you relied pretty heavily on the edges to score runs last weekend ;)
-
Got a very special cherry on the back from the one that went over gully through midwicket ;)
-
I do love a bat with a little graping!
I think that looks a bargain (although personally I would be taking off a few of the stickers!)
Enjoy the knocking in process :)
-
Looks good mate. Will you use her this weekend?
-
Won't be using it this weekend looking at the forecast so plenty of time to knock it in.
Buzz I was tempted to take the "Power Zone" stickers off toward the edge but it's not bothering me that much. Branding is good imo
-
I loike that it has stickers to remind you where the middle is so that you can try and hit the ball there...
-
Looks a typical example of the 400's i saw when handpicking our stock, nice rebound on most of them too. You got a decent price as well :)
i tend to take the bumpf off the back of my own GN bats
Here is my Strauss LE powerbow, sans the 'unecessary' stickers

I've debated it but I think on GNs from 2/3 years ago the rear GN logo extends lower than at current with exception to the Oblivion. I like the look of yours Jake and the Nitro was good for this look but don't think it'll work as well on mine.
That's the thing about this bat, yes it's a 400 and it's not pretty but I was surprised with how good it felt bouncing a ball off it.

I had a look at all the bats that were in stock at my local cricket retailer, and the one which impressed me the most was a GN A61 400 too. There were GN 5 Stars and Kook 700s and GM 808s, none of them were as good as the A61 in performance or pick up. One of the best bats you can get around that price I reckon!
-
What do you think of the finishing? I had a quick look last week at the dynadrive and scoops and I was not too impressed.
-
The finishing on mine is pretty good. Yeah I agree the Scoop and Dynadrives were average though
-
I like the look of that bat a lot looks a good un mate great price and good look joey lad
-
Cheers mate. Hope to keep it long enough to get a Purist next year ;)

We could have come to a deal for my GM Colesy - not being used as my Hattori is flying!!
