Last summer I purchased a Gray Nicolls Test Match Special when I was at Lords for the last day of the test between SA and Eng. I have had a Gray Nicolls Dynadrive for nearly 20 years and I loved the bat and brand. Seeing the Gray Nicolls stand at the match, I decided to buy one and gave the bat maker the details.
I received the new bat and was very pleased! I did not use it but started knocking it in so it would be ready for this season. After two nets this year I noticed that the bat now has 2 cracks/dents in it. I have taken it to Lords and also emailed GN. Both feel the damage is superficial and say I have to pay for a refurb.
I don't think I should pay anything and really don't think the damage should have occurred as it did??? I spent £200 so felt it should be a decent standard?
I coach around 100 kids each week but now am thinking of just returning the bat to GN and changing brands altogether.
What do you think? Any advice is more than welcome....
I do have some pics I could add later
Thanks

Without pics it's impossible to say...... ;)

what does the fact that you coach over 100 kids a week have to do with it?
but yeh pictures are required, may not even be anything to worry about
-
Yeah sorry, I coach quite a bit and the kids always ask what type of bat they should use etc. I have always said only GN! I think the damage is relatively minor in the scheme of things but after only 2 nets? I will look to post some pics

I have bats that start cracking with knocking in mate I know others do too.
I suspect you feel as a unofficial agent you deserve better treatment with the potential 100 people you coach and your influence on them maybe you do get some pictures up mate.

Can't work out how to post them??? Any tips?
I just don't mind about the coaching at all, just want a bat that works and never expected damage straight away

you need a photobucket account, there is a thread somewhere on here that explains it all

Personal feeling, it happens but here is the link to how to post pictures

I was at Lords the other day and returned my bat to the batmaker, he didnt say too much but took it back to the factory to get it looked at. They have emailed me and are going to fix it free of charge although they say there is no fault with the wood. I guess a good result for me, am already 6 games into the season and would have preferred this not to have happened though. Looking forward to seeing how it goes!
