Title: Somerset
Post by: Red Ink Cricket on May 22, 2013, 01:39:33 PM
Bowled out for 70 and sussex level without loss. CC runs seem impossible for them at the moment but they can easily rack up 300 in the YB40. not taking anything away from Magoffin who by his figures bowled a pretty useful spell, but what are they doing? its clearly a lack of application particularly when sussex have raced ahead already.  what do you say or do as a coach or team in situations like this? Probably one of the strongest batting line ups in the country and they are batting worse than your average village team.

He's a bowler. I think he took some tap yesterday in the one dayer but I've not seen the scorecard yet.

11 overs, 4 maidens, 8 wickets for 20 runs and his spell only gets called "pretty useful" haha, there's no pleasing some people!

if he was a somerset bowler then that would be oustanding. that was said slightly tongue in cheek when i first posted it.

I guessed as much, didn't realise you were a Somerset fan though; inexplicable collapse! I feel your pain, I'm a Bears fan living in Sheffield, been getting nothing but grief off my clubmates after our embarrassing capitulation to Yorkshire!

yeah big somerset fan. we are fighting back a little with 4 wickets but they still lead by 50. going to need a few more quick wickets and a big second innings.

the old bears have had a mixed season aswell. OHD cheating somerset out of a win when he didnt think he hit it ( you could tell by the massive grin that he smeared the cover off it) and then getting skittled against yorks. As half my family come from yorkshire i do like to see them do well, obviously except any game featuring somerset

Surely that's not Steve Magoffin you're referring to?

Works both way lad, Chris Wright's LBW decision was dreadful, would've gone about half a foot over the stumps, and Porterfield was nowhere near hitting the delivery that got him 'out'. The umpiring in that game was poor all-round, so it works out evenly I'd say!

i agree the umpiring was shocking for a large part of the game. it just made me chuckle when he was interviewed afterwards and had a big grin on his face when asked. he knew he had got away with it.

Always like beating Somerset. Nice to see little matty machan get one awesome catch and another dolly. I used to go to school with Matt, 3 years below me but always an outstanding little cricketer.

Match figures of 12-31 for Magoffin, not a bad return that!

is someone following their Yorkshire Bank 40 match today?
from the score, it would appear to be the best batting pitch in the country.
somerset 323/5 in 40 and leicestershire 226/0 in 23

shocking to see somerset playing badly in CC, being from somerset supporting them been quite a while but just can't believe we are doing that badly, hope things turns...

They're definitely missing some application at the moment. I think they've underestimated the loss of kiezwetter. Alex Barrow and gemaal hussein aren't county players. Gregory should never be batting at 3 and arul is past it, only getting a game because it's his benefit.  Carrying too many players out of nick, and Elgar is no replacement for peterson. Gonna struggle to stay up. Nosworrhy has got a helluva job to do!

It is to do with the like function being removed while we (Tim) works out how to make it better. ;;;;;
