Did any watch his innings last night? It's a shame there wasn't much of a crowd as some of his shots where exceptional.
I read a article on AOC about how he felt his exclusion from the England set up was never really explained. It's seems odd that a guy who's improving year on year doesn't get a mention anymore. He's only 31 so plenty of life in him plus it's not like he's not got good levels of fitness!!!

hes one of the quickest in the field on the circuit between the stumps and in the field apparently and a top bloke as well, cracking innings and finished it off with a 6 to get himself to the 150 milestone too
-
He' s 32, but i know what you mean. Quality batsman who's future was uncertain just a couple of years ago due to a blood clot in his lung. He's absolutely bloody huge too.

As a Hampshire fan, will always be rather miffed how Carbs/Adams/Vince never get a look in. Machines, all 3 of them

I agree, as much as Compton has done well since he joined I don't think he's set the world alight and nailed that opening spot. I'm surprised any one of these three haven't been pushed as an option.
-
He averaged 85 in last years CB40 I think, yet Bopara gets the ICC spot......
Big Carberry fan!

cricket has always been a sport, where if your face doesn't fit, you don't get selected no matter what you do or what the facts say.

Carberry has a genuine gripe - though I suspect that a lot of it comes down to concerns about his ability to play abroad, because I recall reading that his lung condition meant that he could not fly.
But Vince and Adams? Really? I don't think they've been unfairly overlooked so much as deemed not ready and not good enough respectively!

Man he looked world class last night! Lack of belief when he was younger maybe?
-
It one one of the best limited overs innings I have ever seen, the timing was as good as any player in world cricket last night, he really should have had more of a chance at international level. At 32 though I doubt he will get another chance know as England's policy seems to be consistency and anyone new coming in tends to be young and promising not older and experienced.
-
Highlights are on YouTube. About 6 mins in he nearly removes Adams head!

Lack of luck more like it - he was at Surrey when they had a lot of stronger players above him then went to Kent and was messed around quite a bit.

Cor, that is not the worst shot to finish the game with. Let alone to take you to 150* :o
-
not going to complain as was a great bit of exposure for a little ole company down in Bristol

I Can vouch for this, When Carbs had his health problems, Hampshire sent him down to my old club Havant to get game time, He isnt the tallest but it built like a brick outhouse, and rapid in the outfield! After playing county rugby with a guy that races 100m versus dwaine chambers i thought i had seen quick but carbs is ridiculous! scored a class 80 odd not out and then proceded to mingle with the young kids and the old faithfuls at the club with him buys guys a few drinks!
Cant imagine too many first class cricketers sticking around for banter and a few bevvies
-
He is an absolute gent. I've never met a Hampshire player who wasn't

I'd like to think this wasn't true.

I'd like to think this wasn't true.
why? Having a couple of beers is not going to fundamentally wreck his career!
-
I think he means not enough first class players do/would do that sort of thing?
-
Pro cricketers have always seemed quite approachable, in my experience.

charl langerveld was watching our game last weekend. his friend played against us and our blokes wanted to speak to him
he was a super bloke and had time for all our silly qustions
top bloke could'nt speak highly enough of him, mingled in with us clubbies brilliantly
stein apparentley is a barrel of laughs off the field: one of our blokes asked if he's really that miserable in real life!!
