If they still put the stickers over the scuff sheet (>:() then take a Stanley knife and CAREFULLY go round the stickers. Then go across the grain, get a cloth and some white spirit then sand the remaining residue off.

Sorry to resurect this topic, but I've just done this to my Octane and the residue is awful. Is white spirit really needed or can I leave it a couple of days to dry and just sand it off??

Sanding can work, however the residue will get stuck within the 'teeth' of the sandpaper and therefore ruining the sandpaper - it's probably best to do both, use small amounts of white spirit to ease the residue away with a cloth and then after its dry lightly sand the surface before re-applying a scuff sheet.

Thanks Matt
I can't remember ever having this much residue left after removing a scuff sheet before, it literally the whole face and the edges that are covered

Are you complaining that the face and edges were covered?
you can heat up the bottom on the sticker and hold it up as you pull the cover off.

No I'm not complaining the face and edges were covered by the scuff sheet, I'm just saying I haven't ever taken a scuff sheet off which left residue on 100% of the area it covered.
And I could have done but its a bit late now lol

Do GM add a solution when applying the scuff sheets?

I did this recently to one of my bats which had GM type anti scuff sheet.(Not the GM Argon which I asked the original question about)

Anyway I too ended up with residue which took me couple of days to get rid.

First I left it a day for it to dry out , then I used the blunt side of one my kitchen knives to scrape it out. It took time but I managed to get rid of it all.

In the end I'm glad I took it out, now it makes a very nice sound when the ball hits the bat compared to what it was (probably just in my head ) ,Will be doing the same for my GM during the winter.

No it is just a cover off a roll that is cut by hand and stuck on after it is polished.

My Octane is now done. I used a towel to get the worst of the residue off, then white spirit and finally sanded.
I started off with rough and worked down to smoother paper for a nice finish and I'm happy with the outcome.

One last question, do I need to give it a coat of oil before I apply the scuff sheet? I'm tempted to just leave it as the scuff sheet will keep the moisture in, but as I sanded it is a light coat required??

Oil isn't required if you are scuff sheeting.
