Don't you just love the feeling in your legs two days after you've kept wicket when every step or slight incline is met with dread as your thighs are screaming at you in pain!
Just off to stretch and get some painkillers down me while I walk like John Wayne for the next hour until they kick in!

Feeling your pain I kept at weekend first time in a couple of years. This is why I hate it. Legs in agony.

I keep once or twice a season, Saturdays game didn't help as one of our bowlers kept pulling out of bowling at the last minute as his run up was wrong after I'd already crouched much to my appreciation. Roll on Thursday my legs should be back to normal!
-
Crouching too early? I never tightened up after keeping wicket.
-
With the lad who was pulling out it was right at the last moment so I had to crouch. I think the muscle pain is more due to being 15 stone and keeping every blue moon to be honest. If I kept more often I'm sure my technique would improve along with the muscles getting used to it.

My fledgling baseball career has seen me take up the position of catcher - tons of squatting and crouching involved. After my first game it took until Friday before I could walk properly.
As the season has progressed I've found a few things help.
A) a thorough warm up pre game
B) deep heat on my thighs
C) decent compression shorts
D) a soak in a hot bath after the game
+ I think my fitness/endurance has improved by doing it week in, week out.
Another thing that I think helps is this baseball innovation, which I'm sure could cross-over into cricket - the knee-saver:

Makes long stints of crouching sooo much more comfortable and apparently helps with wear-and-tear on the knees

Have you tried foam rolling? I thought it was just a fad until I tried it after I went to the gym. Really prevents soreness the next morning.

Kept for Second team and Sunday team this weekend, my knees especially feel awful!
For me I just have a cold bath or shower at the end of the match day. If its still hurting the next day I do some squats with a weight, and and other generic stretches.
