Title: 2.79Lb Shane Watson Flare player edition
Post by: keysersolze on May 28, 2013, 09:09:57 AM
Hi guys,
Well after having wanted one of these for a very long time and badgered a friend of a friend of a friend etc who works in cricket with some good players who are sponsored by GM I managed to acquire this rather nice GM Flare Shane Watson player edition weighing in at 2.79 LB. It is a very nice bat as you can see from the pictures and is very well balanced and great in the hands. Though it feels kinda weird to have such a big bat weighing so little.
I will net with it this week after having knocked in the toe and edges a little more but it feels good with a ball bouncing on the blade. The only thing I am worried about now is that I have my dream bat will I lose interest in bats after having acquired the holy grail of bats in my opinion. I dont know anyway enjoy the pics and I will let you all know how it plays through the season to come.

I will leave it here guys and keep you updated on my progress with it as I play it through the season and on!!!

So is this ment to be a flare out off his bag mate? As I thought the players edition flare was around 2'11-2'13?

Wow that is impressive! You do need to do a Pete Hosk-esque photo session with it though! Show us more!

That's very light. I presume you're scales are set to read lb and oz?

Hi Guys,
I don't know if it is out of Shane Watsons stock of bats, I very much doubt it as I would imagine GM keep all the best for him and their other Pro Players. The scales are accurate as I had a problem before with non digital scales that weren't accurate before when selling bats. I got hold of it through a friend who is a retailer in the sports Industry. I am just going to look forward to giving it a good long life out in the middle.
In response to the other flare Watson query I posted ages ago that is a different bat and now back in the hands of its owner after i helped out playing it in a little on a bowling machine. Its a big old bat yes and i will keep you updated as to how it performs.

I will also do some better photos etc when I get hold of the camera from the wife. To be fair I have seen a lot of GM bats marked down as 808's etc this year in the shops and they look a lot better than grade 2's maybe GM grade bats differently!! And its a nice bat big for its weight but I have seen Redback custom profiles the same size and weight before as we do get a lot of Redback custom profiles down here in Sunny Devon. I will net with it tomorrow as I am busy today knocking the edges and toe in a bit more.

that looks a cracker.  Mine is 2 lb 12 but you wouldn't know it if you weren't told.  I can only imagine what one as light as yours picks up like.  Hope you make heaps of runs with it, I'm sure you will.
