Pathetic, our forum sponsors keep us going, and yet for the sake of a couple of quid you would buy from somewhere that has nothing to do with the forum! If it was a vast amount on the price I would totally understand, but not over a couple of quid, especially when they have replied to your message!

That's how life works mate. For us students, £5 does make a fair bit of difference. That'll pay for a day's cricket for me. You can't argue with his logic!

Bit harsh. You have no idea of his financial situation and in the current economic climate you can't blame someone for wanting to save a fiver

Ill be honest even as a student Then I would rather spend the extra little bit on the customer service and keeping the smaller store going.
I even fill up my petrol at my local small chain petrol station to keep them going, even though they are a few pence more a litre! Its about keeping the smaller shops going for when you need them!

Not really fair to jump on his back about it, its understandable wanting to save a few quid

Pathetic? Are you being serious here. You need to change terms and conditions of joining forums and add a clause that users of this forum can only purchase from sponsors or change your tone. You will end up alienting people which will cost your sponsors even more business.

The price difference on Aero Strippers alone is £5, T2 cricket bag £9, Abdo Guard £.50, Pads £12, Bat £100 and so on as I build my kit. It all adds up.

Almost every retailer is offering price match so why can’t the sponsors. I refuse to let myself get ripped off but you call it pathetic. Ask the sponsors to be more competitive and offer more value and they will get more business. It should not be up to buyers to look around for cheapest deals but sadly it is not the case.

I have bought stuff from “sponsors” at times when they offer more value and before I joined this forum I wasn’t even aware of that these shops/sponsors exist so it in their interest to keep the forum going. Saves on marketing costs.

Completely agree with you mate. I haven't used a shop other than a forum sponsor since I've been on here. The customer service is worth paying a little extra for, and the majority of the time there cheaper/the same price anyway

I don't find it unreasonable asking for a price match.

Lets not all jump on one person guys. As has been pointed out, some people need to make their money stretch as far as possible.

My post was a general one, not aimed at the OP or the person who made the recommendation to shop with Owzat/CS

It does irk the sponsors when these types of post appear regularly. After all, the forum wouldn't exist if everyone shopped with owzat.

I will say though, to the Palmist, i'm not sure where i am £100 more on any bat? Indeed owzat/CS have been selling legends at £499 until their recent price drop to £450. I have always sold them at £425.

If someone comes along and buys a large amount of equipment (especially towards the top of the range) or is a regular customer, they are going to get a discount from me, whether they ask for one or not. I won't be price matching on a set of strippers though, they sell like hotcakes at the price i have them listed for.

We are signed up to a kit comparison site (which has some of the biggest retailers out there, its called comparesportskit.com) and as of 2 weeks ago we were one of the cheaper retailers on the site, especially when you factor in free delivery on everything. This is the time of year where websites start to drop the prices, i have been busy recently so i haven't gotten around to adjusting our prices as necessary, but i'm still confident we offer good value.

Vitas, It was an SS LE bat which I sourced from elsewhere for about £100 cheaper than some sponsors and my comment with various prices wasn't aimed at you. I have found some shops to be expensive only on particular items while offering really good value on others. Most of the pricing strategies are based on what is selling and what isn't [supply/demand]. I am not lecturing on marketing but if you attract customers initially by being competitive, it is very likely that they will come back. I am slowly building/rebuilding my kit rather than buying all at one go. I am not biased towards Owzat/CS or forum sponsors, I will shop with whoever offers me best deal and service at that moment in time on that particular item I need to buy. It is really as simple as that.

To reiterate, I have used forum sponsors before and will always consider them an option when browsing around.

That is fair enough mate, my comment wasn't aimed at you, i was curious about the £100 comment though.

In this day and age people are prone to shopping around, from groceries to booze to cricket equipment. As someone mentioned in the thread, students do need to shop around and a little does make alot, however, I would question any student who is spending alot of money on cricket equipment (that's for another thread).
This forum does provide people with the opportunity to shop around and compare prices, sometimes the sponsors are cheaper, sometimes mainstreams are cheaper. But as the majority have said on here, its the customer experience, which IMO is definitely worth it.

Thanks Vitas Jake, I will email you soon.

LMQ - Good to see majority on this forum to be reasonable. And yes those students spending all that money do need looking in to ;-) And also cheaper doesn't always equate to bad experience in the same way as paying more doesn't always warrants you a good one.

Vitas Jake - after the way you have dealt with this issue on this forum, if I lived in England, I'd buy off you every time.  Good on you and good on your store for sponsoring this forum.
