Title: Grains opening up?
Post by: mini998 on June 02, 2013, 08:35:23 PM
I am knocking in my SG and had few net sessions with it. I am starting to see very thin hairline cracks where grains meet up. More I knock more they starting to spread .

Is this what people call as "Bat opening up"?

Sorry is this is something simple ,First time knocking in a bat properly.

that will not affect performance. however to prolong life, you can put a scuff sheet on.

Paul from IJC has been sharing his wisdom with me on the mystique that is 'knocking-in'.

When there are hairline cracks along the grains, they have 'opened-up' and knocking in is nigh-on complete.
If the cracks are horizontal, you need to knock it in more, but proceed with caution around the horizontal cracks.

He's a genius when it comes to knocking in.
