Received my Fusion Skyer this morning, great service from Fusion. Bill said he would post it on Monday and it got here on Tuesday.

I got it for a reduced price as it used to belong to Cardiff University Academy... until someone ran it over with a car :-\
Anyway it went back to Fusion for a refurb and it looks brilliant now!
I took it down to my club to give it a test out this evening and as I expected everyone wanted a go! I certainly pissed a few people off with a few hard inner ring catches!
Looks
The signature bright orange paint is certainly eye catching and the new stickers certainly look top draw. I also received one of the smart new carry bags that now come with all Skyers. Perfect for protecting the Skyer and also carrying it to and from the ground if I don't have my bag.

Feel
The Skyer is heavier than I imagined it to be but this actually helped me to hit the ball further and higher as there was more weight behind it. The Skyer has a large sweet spot and even off center hits can go ridiculously high! Some will say there is no point hitting catches so high but I have heard that the idea is to train harder than you need to in a match and then it will be easier when it comes to the real thing.
The cutaway edges at the top are a great idea allowing more control than holding it with the handle although I did find this more useful for closer catches as less power could be achieved.

I have been told that the Skyer will now retail around the £79-95 mark which is half the old price but for the same product.
Final Summary
A great fielding aid, allowed me to hit realistic match catches with ease. Now that the price has come back down I can see more people wanting to purchase, I can definatly recommend the skyer, all clubs should have one!
Although only time will tell whether it improves our teams sub standard fielding! My coach (a woman) really found this useful as she really struggles to hit high catches.
I will be updating this review once I have used the Skyer a couple more times...

Can anyone tell me how many Skyer's would have been sold this season, I'm guessing at 40/50 but wondered if anyone would be able to put a figure on it.
-
Used it again yesterday... you can really get some power on the flat catches to make them realistic which is awesome.
Although I found that the bat pad catches were most fun, we even managed to include a few slips.
High catches are amazing and even after this short time using it I can tell I wont be shelling those high catches!

Far more than that.
-
How many do you think, have not seen a single one all year. My one gets lots of questions as no one seems to have seen one before.
-
500 at least
-
Is that a guess or do you know that, as I have tried to do some calculations and got nowhere near that. I only know of 3 people selling them and one has only sold 5.
-
Are we assumming that most county sides got theirs free - i've seen a fair few county and international matches with them being used in warm ups. Apart from that i have seen one, and that was a university side, i've yet to see it on the village scene as of yet.
Leo is there any variation between the fusion skyer and the surridge skyer apart from the stickers?
p.s. - how did you get on against horrington?
-
County sides from memory did pay. International sides I'm not sure on. I'm the same though only seen a couple in use in club cricket.
-
My club has 2. because the first team train separately. they bought them.
-
Hi ,
Facts.....Every Test test sides have them, paid for,
Many EU countries, Many associate countries,, Japan, Hong Kong, Virgin islands on and on.
Every First class counties, no freebees,
Remember, there are over 1 million registered Ecb cricketers, it said that there may be as many as 3 million that play cricket.
13,000 reg ecb coaches
Over 7,500 ecb clubs
2,300 Ind/ private schools,........... I could go on.
Over 30,000 State schools
All that's just the UK.
Fact, there has been over 500 Boom bats sold, Over 1.200 Fusion Skyers,
Now that it has been agreed by all parties concerned, that the new price will be £79-95 who knows how many will be sold .
I invented the Fusion Skyer, and it should not have been pitched at £ 150 in the first place, A Mistake was made, for which I am sorry for. Fusion intend to bring out a few more Aids in the near future.

Looks like your calculations were right then!
-
My clubs got 1.
-
i'm trying to persuade my club to get one!
-
Bill any clues as to the nature of the new fielding aids?
-
Thanks for the figures Bill, not sure about the total amount of cricketers, 3 million would equate to 1 in 20 people in the UK, think that must include every single school child.
I love my Skyer and had a go at making my own yesterday, it is so simple yet so close to your one, 15 minutes start to finish and very close to the real thing. Really enjoyable and wondered if you were going to improve yours in any way for next season?
Also of the 1200 sold how many would have gone out this season?
Cheers

Noo the handle snapped today! Not the splice part but about 1" up from the bottom of the actual handle!
-

-
