Title: Bat Wax - how to make ?
Post by: vividgreen on June 08, 2013, 04:27:28 AM
Hi Guys,

anyone know the exact formula how to make bat wax (eg. Salix Bat Wax).

Is it raw linseed oil and bees wax or boiled linseed oil (mixture of linseed and pine turpentine) and bees wax ???
If anyone knows the exact formula in ratio's and how to make it, this info would be much appreciated. I want something that i can use as a replacement for traditional raw linseed oil, that can be polished up for a premium finish.

I have also heard that some people use Lord Sheratons Wood Balsam which is a mixture of linseed oil, turpentine and bees wax - not sure if this will have any adverse effect on the bat.

Would appreciate knowledgable responses (not a guess). Thanks guys....

I use Lord Sheraton, it is easier to work into the wood.
