Please advice if this is a butterfly stain or something else?

I think graping is what you can see on the upper face of this - pic not great

What is it then? I'm sure it's not a knot. Grains are ruler straight and equally spaced below the mark and all the way down.

I think it's just a little bit of graping, you can check on the JS Wrights website, or maybe even in the Vulcan/Choice section here for some butterfly willow. :)

that's good to know. Anyways, this stain/ graping is pretty much near the splice and will be covered by sticker. I'm happy as long as it doesn't affect the performance. Cheers

Nothing quite like some delicately placed graping... I love the marbly, holographic look it has... Not sure if that's the best way to describe it

Positively? even if it's near the splice and not in the middle??

I must say it's a lovely stick with 10 straight grains and the stain near the splice. I will upload more pics in sometime.

Probably limited impact with the graping near the splice....
