Well here's a beauty that a South African lads come to have made. It's 2-10 but picks up like 2-8. Will be a lot more pics posted in the next few days as we sticker up more orders that I have been working on over the last couple of weeks.

If I was a better player, I would folk out for one of these beauties.
Lovely looking stick.
-
Wow Wow Wow, lucky guy to own such a beauty. Awesome bat.

Just had a nice meeting with my softs supplier at lunch first time we have met face to face and what a lovely guy, he's doing a tour round uk holidaying and visiting customers. Quite an eye opener, I knew I was naive as to how the big companies managed to ship real grade ones abroad and back and sell for a profit. Lets just say my suspicions were there but I never knew how much i underestimated it. Truely shocking that's all I am going to say.

The underbelly of business can be a dark place.
-
It can but you wouldn't believe that it can be allowed at the extent of what they are doing then charging people £400 plus a product that ain't anywhere near what the customer would think it was

Knowing what you know about these practices can only make your brand stronger.
With that knowledge, you can be confident knowing that your transparency and honesty will, over time, underpin your brand.
You'll fast become known as the 'honest, ethical, trustworthy, decent' bat maker. Those are powerful words to be associated with. I've recommended you to many of my team mates based on honesty and service alone.
There was a thread asking for 'top 3 bats', the majority had the word 'Aldred', mine had the Vintage. People are recognizing that the major brands DON'T give them value for money and are looking toward smaller brands such as yourself, H4L et all.
Now it's time for a cold beer.
-
Really didn't see that thread

Paul I have to agree with the previous couple of comments, I truly doubt I will ever buy from a 'big brand' ever again.
Your bats look amazing, my experience of your customer service is brilliant, I can't wait until I try one of your bats.
Keep up the good work and keep sticking to your values.
Just spotted the signature on tha bat on the right, nice touch - looks good
-
Thanks ldifa signature was requested. I don't normally do that to be fair.
-
Sorry for being a blonde here but are we talking about big companies selling lower grade English willow as Grade 1's or are we implying they are selling Kashmir willow as English willow?
or did I get it completely wrong?

Or how little it costs them to make a bat and then sell for massive profits. There have been numbers floating around in past that are unconfirmed, I am assuming Paul was referring to how big the margin is.

Both actually guys. Vellum, that's all I will say

All the more reason to shop local/with small batmakers.

Just got back after a few days away to find the bats my team mates have ordered are posted up on the forum. :) Can't wait to receive these Paul, I'm sure you're going to have 5 very satisfied customers on the south coast.
-
Here's a lovely gold sovereign going out. 2-9 1/2 finished, picks up nicely, Pings beautifully, if it hadn't been for the little pin knot mark on the face it would have been in the sovereign range.

-
One very excited 16 year old son awaiting this gem. He might have to arm wrestle his dad to get it yet.
-
Keep an eye out tomorrow guys gradually getting handles in and final pressing to perfection. I said I felt this stock of clefts could be the best I have ever had and as they are getting the final press I am pleased to say I was right some absolute beauties not only in feel but in looks too and not even half way through them yet.
-
Is that the vintage profile Paul?
-
Not quite its sort of a mix of the two. The camera angle softens the shape a touch in that pic I must admit. I get a lot of people wanting a mix of the two
-
Some very nice bats indeed
-
Absolutely cracking. It won't be long before one of these is mine for sure!
-
Pics as promised a few going out one is a extra long blade for my old team mate Adrian Rollins then some nice pics of some of the belters that I am handling up at the moment. They are all definitely from the the capital of pingsville. If you see anything you like just get in touch

-
Any Gold sovereign citizens in the capital of pingsville
-
We have some not in these pics but we have some beauties and looking through the clefts to be done a few I think will be beauties in the gold sov range
-
Do you do bats with a rounded face as well Paul, really loving my silver sovereign at the moment and just interested to see what a rounded face version is like?
-
No we don't that's our press profile and don't want to change too much. We are getting more and more success and recognition and I go with the old view if it ain't broke don't fix it. We try and evolve but we are quietly in a good place at the moment and have a lot of top players coming to us as we are producing bats that they feel are amongst the best they have ever had so I am not changing too much. Am always looking to improve but will evolve it to work for us In the best way. The current batch of clefts we have and a slightly new handling system that has given us another boost, but we are always looking at new ideas from customers that's for sure.
-
Really nice looking bats, very tempted.
-

Same, can't believe how good the silvers look for the price!
-
Big fan of traditional looks and not many stickers. Love the look of these.
-
Paul do you make bats with bows or usually prefer to keep them straight ?
-
Yes we can make them with a bow. Not as big as many Asian bats but they do have a bow
-
Son's Gold Sovereign arrived this morning. Initial impressions are bloody fantastic. First review will be posted later (off to work now),besides it needs a wipe down due to him slavering all over it since it arrived.
-
Big G,
I am glad little G likes it. We all want to see pictures so we can drool over it.
-
Here is the Aldred BIG G was telling you about earlier. The pictures speak for themselves. The bat hasn't been played or knocked in yet and it pings beautifully. The knot on the front doesn't bother me as it doesn't affect how good this bat is in anyway. Im sure BIG G will fill you in on more of the boring bat talk ;) Im looking forward to driving my mother up the wall during the knocking in process haha

I received my gold sov from Paul today, it looks absolutely beautiful and pings wonderfully. I will post a new topic about it maybe tomorrow (obviously with pictures which everyone loves ;)).
-
Stunning bats!! Lovely!!
-
Will have 2 or 3 supreme bats that are coming back froma certain cricket ground close by today that are left from a bundle sent out. They are real beauties will get them stickered up and post some pics. I am very tempted to keep them for myself they are beautiful but seeing as I hardly play now that would be a waste, although I am having a run out on Saturday see if I can run in again.
-
Stunning bats!! Lovely!!
Played against Aldred this saturday, not sure which bat he was using but the ball definatelly flew of the bat. The bats, combined with some sweet timing clould definately do some damage! Seriously considering an Aldred next time I need one.
-
Som serious looking sticks. Might just purchase one hmmm

Haha anything to raise the club funds ;) didnt realise you played for Shipley though, until I got there, could of done without you getting me out though now on my second 0 in 2 weeks
-
Always nice to get these letters just putting this one up as it did make me smile from mark in London.
Dear Paul,
I thought an overdue note to commend you on your craftsmanship was due.
Thank you! It has a middle like Thor's hammer and even the edge fly!
Downside being that the entire team now steal your bat!
Many thanks and I will be using you again in the future.
Kind regards
Mark
-
where abouts are you based ?
i would be interested in coming in to sort out a supreme or vintage ?
-
We are based in Derbyshire in between derby and Nottingham.
-
Just look at these two beauties both 2-8 /9 if you think they look nice you should feel the ball on them.

third time I used my sovereign on Saturday and scored 83 with it, hopefully first of many big scores with it
-
Great I tried to pack as many runs in it as possible for you. I didn't want to put so many in that they got stuck and wouldn't come out that was the problem
-
Hi, what grade are the two bats above?
Thanks
-
Grade 1 exactly the same as our pros use
-
Thanks, they look very nice. Love the profile of the top bat... :)
-
Thanks for the nice words just get in touch if I can help you with anything
Paul

That looks seriously lovely.
-
It's a nice one. If anyone is wanting to get some orders in please get in touch. Just remember we shut down for 3 weeks every year at the beginning of September as we do some maintenance work on our machinery, saws press etc.
-
are you able to choose the middle position?
-
Yes that's the whole point of our business. Everything is bespoke so you get what you want. The only pre mades we have are either ones that have come back from a selection that pros have had or if we have done a show at a local club everything is made to order.
-
Lovely looking stick ..wow really like those stickers :)

Here's some gold and silvers going out. Some short blade some traditional profile ranging from 2-6 to 3-0. They all ping like stink as well.

Just started using my short blade gold sovereign - 1st on the left above and scored 3 50's with it including the biggest 6 I've ever hit last Sunday.
Bought 5 bats for club mates as part of Paul's 30% club deal and they are all spot on - £87.50 for a silver sovereign and £122.50 for a gold sovereign at the discounted prices. Brilliant value for money.
Many thanks Paul from DACD Cricket Club, Hampshire.
-
When you put the figures up like that it does show what a bargain that deal is - must admit, with my creaky maths it had sort of passed me by.
-
I have just receive a bat from Paul, I must say it is a beautiful looking bat. Profile is superb, just need to get it knocked in and get it out in the middle.

Get the pics up for all to see then champ :)
-
Think I may have to purchase one of your bats to replace my broken bat.
Really like the look of the silver sovereigns. Have you got any left in around a 2.8oz?
-
We do have silvers in whatever weight you require
-
you are going to have three amazingly lucky punters...
that middle one is going be incredible
even I was looking at the middle one....looks like a great piece of willow

-
Well I am finding more and more now that people's choice is down to its looks as they all tap up very very similarly as we are very careful that our pressing process is getting the best out of every piece of willow we get, and that is how we grade them on feel. As a small business we have to make the best of everything as we cannot afford to mass produce and wouldn't want to. I was lucky enough to get a lot of help from james laver when I started up and following his advice and ethos has helped tremendously, he is a very generous man indeed. I hope that we can emulate his quality and standards. I am certainly very happy and proud of what I am producing and intend to keep evolving and providing exactly what a professional would use for the general club cricketer.
Happy hitting ;)
-
3 more going out. 1 gold 2 silvers one of them is a harrow for a young local lad. He is a lucky lad as it is a beautiful piece of wood but had a big chunk out of it so could only be used as a light bat for a young player so went down the grades. Better born lucky than rich they say.

Cant get enough of these bats, they just get better and better
-
Thanks badger. I am taking the same approach as when I played. I take a look at the guy in the spot I want and work to get better than him then when I do, I look at the next stage I want to be at. I like people to be looking over their shoulder to see who's pressuring them for their position. I love it, its exciting :D quietly working your way forward. Bring it on.
-
Do you leave those wood shavings on the floor purely for photography purposes Paul ;)
-
Just lazy cant be arsed to clean them up. Just always got some under the bench that are swept up. Looks better than a concrete floor I reckon. My artistic flare darling.
-
I think it makes the bats look even better. Bet it smells nice too.
-

Imagine the quality of the bats made, by the bloke who looks up at you, and thinks he wants to be better than you, they'd be insane
Just so you know Paul, I'm saving up my pennies to get one of these when I next get a bat, need one in my life
-
can't wait for mine to arrive now!

God! I really hope that is my Sovereign Gold......looks wonderful

What are they Paul? Supremes?
-
Beauties that's what they are :D yes supremes
-
Paul,
Which one is mine (2.10) there? and how do they ping?
-
Thanks Paul, the 2.8 is for me, excited to see the finished one... :)
-
The one with heartwood is 2-10. Yes they both ping and apart from the heartwood are very similar pieces of wood in feel
-
That's very thoughtful of you to choose a cleft with heartwood on the inside edge of bat.
Hopefully I can hit more sixes with this one :-)
-
Thanks Paul, we have received the bats... We will keep you updated post nets results...
