struggling playing shots with a straight bat as i feel ive got to always swing as hard as i can and it ends up with my posture going all over the shop as well as my head. wondered if theres any tips so i can play with a straight bat confidently

have someone help you with some drop feeds.
start with your top hand on the bat only.
work on a punch not a whack.
it will take a while and a change of mindset.
also check your grip isn't too strong with your bottom hand

Dominant upper hand helps me keep shots more controlled but the problem I experience is that it can sometime make the bat turn a little bit in my hand.

especially when i try to hit the ball in the air my head goes up and i dont keep my eye on the ball. if i can get this area of my game in check ill be a well rounded player

Have to focus on seeing the ball make contact with bat and practice practice practice.

Don't try to hit the ball in the air. Keep it on the ground.
