I have a crack along where the splice meets the blade on the back of my bat and was wondering if this is damage will increase quickly or indeed affect performance? I have only had the bat a few months and the crack has been getting bigger over the last few uses.
Thanks

i would send it back to the manufacturer, is this a GM Icon by any chance?
-
Guessing it's concaved, send it back. Reasonably common fault.
-
This happened to my fusion, sent it back, they pinned it but its continued to crack. Bat feels very dodgy now, shame as it was going well.
-
I can't send it back as I bought it off a forum member. Yes it is concaved and no, it's a Crown. Might just have to keep using it until it breaks.
-
Put a little glue in it and tape it up. My Hunts bat had a similar crack and cracks near the shoulder/splice area but there was little I could do about it.
A year later it's no worse.

On sunday i was given a slazenger elite, or something like that, and it has a crack identical to this - i wasnt sure whether it was really repairable insofar that is inserting dowels really going to give it the necessary support? Be interested to hear from someone who has actually done this and whether it really does the job? from what i have heard and seen, these types of cracks can stay there for years and be purely cosmetic and other times they go from bad to worse - luck of the draw perhaps?

Just used it, and it's completely snapped. Didn't help the opposition were using at bat breaker of a ball. Ah well, a trip to Romida is in order!
-
Why go to romida? why dont you take up mike's offer of a completely handmade bat to whatever spec you want? at £150 thats cheap
-
If you pay P&P I have a bat from an Ashes test player you can borrow.
-
It is a handling crack, sometimes the handle is a fraction too big for the slice and causes this break. Completely the fault of the manufacturer and should be replaced FOC.
-
I didn't buy it from a manufacturer or a shop though. I also have no proof of it being a Crown, no stickers, no marks on shoulder/handle etc so there isn't much I can do. Or is there?
Tom, I'd rather buy one mainly so I haven't got to worry about breaking things! Thanks for the offer though.
Shilly, it's tempting and I'll probably think about it, but I might as well have a look for one as I'm near a shop this week and won't be again for a while.
-
I'd have thought a batmaker would recognise his handywork. I'd email/ring them and explain the situation and see what they have to say with them being a small brand good customer service should be a priority in order for them to try and distinguish themselves, so you may be in luck!
-
agree with outlaw here - unless of course crown buy in all their bats and simply apply the labels, though i wouldnt know. Definetly worth a go though.
-
They started off shaping part made bats, but later think they did make and press some.
-
Is this Raje Crown?
-
East Boldon Crown.
-
Are crown sports in Dewsbury still going?
-
Well, they got bought out by Raje Sports
-
From what I understand the equipment did and the name went to Chris Ellison.
