Title: How many bats have you owned in the last 24 months
Post by: procricket on July 12, 2013, 07:04:36 PM: Just been going through my albeit poor pictures of the bats I have owned in the last 2 years and I come to a staggering 21..

How many have you owned and can you list them my Mong is with Mr Holman for most bats.

And now onto a CA 8000 Test - early signs are really really good.. Thanks Chad :)

Need at least one more but that will have to wait for a while.

Now i look back, i realise how stupid i am! Currently down to a slazenger and 2 hawk bats. Do still have the Blank bats but it is broken alongwith the puma bionic and the lukeys bat.

Kookaburra Recoil 400 - cracked the toe first time i used it sent it back and then sold it after 2 net sessions, never got on with it
Spartan CG Authority - Amzing piece of wood just a pity my talents do it zero justice as its a cannon, ask procricketer1982 as he loved it. Plus its a proper one as well from Kingsgrovesport in Oz
Vantage Lithium - Traditional shape and pings brilliantly gone back to this to try and get my game in order and feels really good
Rob Pack Custom - Havent used it yet as i intedn to do some serious net training but will possible use it for this as it looks and feels brilliant off the mallet

GM Epic 707 - bought this during the winter as I loved the profile shape. Too heavy for me too use.
Kookaburra Ricochet 250 - current match bat, top middle and not reached full potential yet.
Choice Aussie - Too heavy for me but was a lovely bat with a good middle.

There are two worst. These are, without doubt, the SG VS319 Ultimate which was a complete plank with almost no middle, as a number of people on here can testify to. The other was the Kook Blade Special Edition, which had a similar problem. Got my money back plus some by selling both on ebay.

The best of the ones I sold on were the H4L, GN Evo Carbo (which I still wish I hadn't got rid of), the Laver Reserve Ultra and the Bulldog SpiriT20. All awesome bats, that I just didn't need to keep. The ones I've kept have all been used in games this season. The MIDS and B3 have both scored a couple of hundred runs in other people's hands. The Hades had scored not very much, only in mine!

GN100 - Bought due to nostalgia. Used in a couple of nets. Decided I really didn't like it so went on ebay. Bought by someone in Australia who saved themself a load of cash by doing it that way, even with shipping.
GN Evo Carbo - Bought cheaply off the Hut. Sold to someone on here. Lovely bat. Shouldn't have got rid.
GN Xiphos Carbo - Bought in Sports Direct sale. Didn't need it, ebay.
SG VS319 - Wanted to try an SG. It was terrible. Put on ebay and fortunately recouped costs.
Kookaburra CCX 700 - Cheap sale deal. Decided I didn't need it. Went on ebay.
Kookaburra Blade Special Edition - bought really cheaply on ebay to try. Sold for three time what I paid due to sale timing ahead of Ashes and Phil Hughes link.
Puma Ballistic 6000 - Wanted to try a traditional shape with Carbon handle. Didn't like the pick up.
Bulldog SpiriT20 - Great bat. Just too heavy for me. After playing and missing too many outside off, decided I needed something lighter.
Slazenger V3 Pro - Again too heavy. Good bat.
Mongoose CoR3 Super Premium - Bought as I wanted one. Wasn't being used, went when the missus complained about too many.
Mongoose MMi3 Premium - Always loved the idea of MMi3. Used in nets. Never really tried in a match. Got rid of as above.
H4L 666 Monster - Had this and my instinct. Preferred the balance of the instinct. This got used in a couple of games, but decided I'd do better selling it on as it deserved to be used.

I have also gained/retained:

Laver Heritage - Just the perfect bat shape.
Instinct - One of the best bats I've used.
SAF Hades - One of the best bats I've used.
B3 Stripe 1 Custom - One of the best bats I've used.
Newbery Uzi C6+ - Wanted one to try out. With the Carbon handle, although it weighs 2lb6.8oz, has as much wood as a 2lb8-2lb9 bat.
MIDS Grade 1 - Astonishing for the price
GN Dynadrive - Nostalgia again
DS Custom - Made for dense willow test

How many of these bats have had 500 runs through them my theory is were either getting bad bats or some are bat tarts..

I would contest this.

The bat had lovely grains, picked up a treat, was big for the weight and on most tests for a cricket bat was awesome.

Except it had absolutly (not almost) no middle.

Personally I was gutted as I have always wanted an SG bat (it is the sehwag/dravid combo in me!) and tried the bat for ages in a desperate effort to like it!

The best of the ones I sold on were the H4L, GN Evo Carbo (which I still wish I hadn't got rid of), the Laver Reserve Ultra and the Bulldog SpiriT20. All awesome bats, that I just didn't need to keep. The ones I've kept have all been used in games this season. The MIDS and B3 have both scored a couple of hundred runs in other people's hands. The Hades had scored not very much, only in mine!
If I remember correctly, didnt this SG get bought by the bloke running kayano cricket from stoke on Trent and get restickered as something else

Yes, it did.

I also forgot the Redback I got from PDC in the advent specials that went for £20 more on ebay than the PDC price, after I thought they'd cancelled the order. Still, it meant I didn't have to pay postage and profited!

GM 606 - was dying when I got it.

Found this forum felt like I needed new bats,

Spyder - was my match bat, loved it but I always got caught - still in the bag
Some Kook that was bought and sold as I was using the spyder, lost money on it.
GM 909 Hero - was a mess as took a punt on ebay, overpaid, but sanded oiled and glued
Bulldog basher - match bat, love the shape, a shame I didnt knock it in that well, but a great middle.

Keep seeing bats for sale that I want to buy but don't need.

Only got a new one because slight cracks appeared and it felt like it was about to break. I then got an Gray-Nicolls Blaze to finish off the season which was actually a quality bat for the price. £30-£40 around about. Then, last season I got a Gunn & Moore Epic L.E Original which I found was too light. V Sports gave me a 606 to pick up, as there were no L.E's in stock, which felt heavy enough. V said it'd be a similar weight, however when I actually got the L.E it was way too light (not v's fault though as all Epic's were just recently in stock). Also, the middle was too high for me...
When I gave up that bat this year, I decided to get a V Sports bat. It's a traditional bat with thin edges but a really tall spine. Pings like a beauty. And that's about it for my bats in the last 2 years.

Woodstock Curve - best bat. Went to visit Jon in Plumton Green where he used to live. Top bloke - gave to my brother (idiot!)
Bradbury Players - 2.10 low middle. Really good bat but hard pressed - sold
Bradbury Players - 2.8 another good one but middle was too high for me - sold
Newbery Custom - had to sell the two bradbury to get this one. It's still opening up but its a very special bat.

By have acquired easily upwards of 100 in the past two years!
That is including swaps and buying! But I have calmed down considerably now!!
