I took a punt on this from eBay, mainly as it only cost me 12 quid including shipping, but also because underneath all the tape and grime the grains looked like the might be fairly tasty. The guy who sold it reckoned it was about 8-9 years old, which makes sense as i think BF started working for Hawk around 2004.
At first I considered just removing the tape and keeping it in it's current condition, as it's a lovely shape and I do like the classic double B stickers, but I had one go with it in the nets and it still flies, so I decided to take the plunge and get her back into match ready condition.
This is the condition it arrived in

This was the photo that convinced me that it was worth a punt, something pretty looks to be lurking under all that.

And here's how she looks after a good sand down, a few coats of oil and a new grip.

Looks pretty good mate! Whats the weight on it? Nice grain!
-
It's 2.10 gripped and ready to roll.
-
Looks a bargain that if it plays well. I love bats with plenty of grains opened up like this. Shows it been properly used.
-
Nice find fella, definitely scrubbed up well

Yeah, I went through 5-6 different grades, can't remember which ones though, a search should turn up some good advice.

Wow, look at the grains, absolute steal for 12 quids--
-
I'd suggest that there probably hasn't been a BB bat made this century.
-
Looks a real bargain, cracking grains. Plenty of older blokes at my old club had these, must have been 5 or 6 of them kicking around, and some of them still use them now

I'd disagree with that, the club I play for was founded in 2000 and a couple of the older members have BB bats that they picked up while the club was on tour in England.
