Not to confuse people I thought I would show you the difference between crown willow and 3 stripe willow in terms of sheer mass.
Bear in mind I do not work for B3 or speak on there behave in any shape or form and I pay what everybody else pays.
I bought the first production bat and also have a crown.
Both bats weight in now at a mighty 2-7.5 ounces
Both very different profiles one is a custom one is another players reject both have had weight reductions both play very well one suits more than the other now.
Both have been identified by batmakers as low density see what you think.
Spec and Picts to come
Only Chris Easby the old CE batmaker has seen them both the crown picks up I think 2-3 ounce lighter than it looks as well
Also some of you possibly wonder why they don't openly sell crown willow it because it like rocking horse do do..
-
I've seen them both and I've got to say the crown is huge compared to the 3 stripe!

As you can see bear in mind the weight is with the grips on as well the reason i rant on about these bats is for the weight there massive.
Bear in mind the custom has quite a bow to make it look bigger the crown has no bow
The blue one has added so much to my game i have to admit i have a weak wrist in my top hand due to a few breakages but with the added wood i feel so confident at the crease and as a lightweight bat lover i find i have the perfect bat for my game in the blue crown.
As i have alluded i very passionate about good equipment there are lots on this forum and although i know there not sponsors there bats are worthy of a mention
The difference is all there to see in this example and bear in mind the other red custom 3 stripe is not a small bat either..

What's that thing next to those B3's that looks like a cricket bat?
-
a 1940 cricket bat mate made by Walter Lamberts
-
Are you standing on a chair to reach the table Dave?
-
Indeed I'm mate
-
Having seen both types of willow on finished bats, I totally agree with Dave's comments. You really do get bigger bats for the weight with the crowns. Best part is they will show you all the clefts and you can work with the good dr to choose one to your liking.
-
Having seen and picked up both bats I've got to say the JT is one of the best bats I've held in my hands.
Considering the bat is suppose to weigh 2lb 7oz it could easily pass itself off for a bat around 5-6oz heavier easily.
If I could get him drunk enough I'd definitely break the bank to have the bat - I know it's worth more than money to him and for Dave to say its the best bat he's ever used that says something. Just a shame he hasn't managed a century with it yet.
The crown bats B3 produce are up there with anything you can buy, whether they are worth the money I don't know but I can totally understand them charging top dollar for them.

On a separate note - you wanna watch that ankle of yours standing on a chair! I honestly didn't know you were that short you had to stand on a chair to reach the table.......
-
hope you don't mind me asking,
how much is one of these beauties
-
3 stripe is £320 so these must be £375!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
There technically not for sale so best to speak to b3 direct
Chris your right no century maybe if you and he other opener hadn't scored 6 of the first 9 overs I might have.only kidding mate
I do love this bat because it has changed my thoughts before this bat I either went all concaved but this is a lump in a traditional way and I love it.
I even love the massive oval handle something I have never liked
No bat compares to this in my current range not even close not even the other b3 which is a belter
All there willow seems to perform from 1 stripe to crown
Enough about me or else they make me pay the forum sponsor fee for the company.
