Talent offer free knocking in too -
-
You could get a bat from a forum sponsor for a better price I'd imagine.
-
Of that quality? + knocked in?
i've had two Newberys and been happy before. Love the look of MH
-
I would imagine a £200 budget would attract a fair few guys able to help you choose a bat. as for it being knocked in I am sure some of them will offer than service. That way you'll be able to choose a cleft and talk through your specifications with the bat makers on here.

Online stockist are really good as they are very cheap and knock in bats for free.
-
What has people's experience been with online stockist? are they reliable and how long does delivery tend to take?
-
I'd check out the Aldred's.......been very impressed with what he's posted up recently
-
they will be more than 200 though surely

I bought two bats from Online Stocklist . one for myself and one for my mate.
Both my bats supposed to be fully knocked in but neither of them were knocked in , My mates SS has 5-6 cracks on edges after half a season ,plus there is one horizontal crack which seemed to be the worse one.
It takes nearly one month for the delivery , so I wouldn't advice you to buy from them mid season if you hoping to use them soon. But products are genuine from my experience.
I got one bat made from Aldred few weeks ago and it is by far the best bat I have bought.

Mine is a Silver Sov which was £125 , you can even get Gold sov for £175 I think.

£205 is the price for the Gold bat + Knocked in. And some of the available clefts looked like this
(http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss278/roca123/6fa2fb69-2d20-4654-99b0-d2289c628c33_zpsdb4f0408.jpg) (http://s583.photobucket.com/user/roca123/media/6fa2fb69-2d20-4654-99b0-d2289c628c33_zpsdb4f0408.jpg.html)
But Paul has a new batch of clefts so could be well worth speaking to him.
-
i thought when i looked it was 265.
knocking in is 40.
for 160 from talent i get a tomahawk players knocked in.
-
Aldreds are beautiful bats (at least the two Supremes I have), but that SS looks very nice as well for the price. You can also try talent cricket's own custom bats - they are very well priced as well.
-
Deeg,
Aldreds bat prices are as follows for CBF members
Silver - £125
Gold - £165
Supreme - £220
Vintage - £TBC
Then it is £40 to knock in the bats
-
I think most people have a lot faster delivery than one month, it just depends if the bat you order is in stock and how long it takes for them to source the bat you order.

Check that thread out for examples of the silver and gold sovereign......at £165 and £205 respectively knocked in I personally would not look any further than that.
That said, the other options you are looking at look pretty good. I would just back the sponsors here as they seem to have an excellent rep
-
they do look jenny (gunn)
still looking at 40 quid more than the newbery tomahawk though - for the silver..
-
sorry misread that- gold sov for 205 knocked in vs newbery for 160 - knocked in.
decision time

@185 that looks a beauty......although I see Phil Eaglestone is sponsored by yourselves. Played schoolboy stuff with him at Kent through the age groups at then some games at senior level before he moved over to Ireland! Please never waste any of your good willow on him!
-
id never buy a bat from an online stockist, you dont know how its going to pick up. id always rather go into a shop and test that as its the most important part when buying a new blade!
-
Red Ink will do a great bat as will others within your budget.

lol poor old phil lol think he still got the frist two bats i gave him yes wont go wrong as for online selling if we aint happy we dont send them out
-
Phil is a top cricketer though and a smashing fella!
Anyway, back on topic, so many good bats feel lucky I'm not looking for one (Not properly anyway, although there are a few that tickle my fancy!)
Good luck in your choice!
-
Too much choice
-
If you are not sure about the price, just pm some of the sponsors here, including Aldred, the worst is that they will say no. Best case you will get a cracking bat at a decent price. You are not obliged to buy if you make enquiries so I would stop guessing and start making enquiries.
Also you may find a cheaper knocking in service closer to where you are. You will almost certainly need to spend a few hours of your own anyway.

They are not that cheap once you have added postage. At most you will be saving £20 or so by the time you check out. I would rather pay an extra £20 for the option to feel and ping my new bat.
-
I can throw a spanner in the works here if you let me know your ideal budget and specifications etc.
Have some lovely bats with me at the moment that could fit your criteria. Would knock them in and oil f.o.c as well :)
Send me a pm if I can be of any assistance.
Take a look at the BR section for pics, reviews etc
There's far too much choice on here. But let's face it. It's not a terrible thing to be spoilt ;)

Exactly
It's not worth the all the hassle to save £20 quid. Plus when something goes wrong it is much easier to deal with UK sellers/ Bat maker (ie; warranty issues).
I bought a SS bat for a my mate from India beginning of this season and now it has cracked from different places , It's not worth sending the bat all the way to India for warranty in this case , We are trying to repair it our selves to avoid the hassle.
Plus UK made bats are much much better quality in most cases.

On most bats you're saving a lot more than £20. Postage for one bat is £12.

Again, you save more than £20 and it's true these Asian bats don't last as long, this is because they are softly pressed and the hot conditions mean the willow is normally dryer.
You get grade one bats for £100-150 over there, but grade one here is a lot more.
-
I can get you a uk handmade bat with -10 or more grains, blemish free, fully knocked in for £200 posted or less if you want it blank without stickers
PM me

You can get some fantastic grade 1 bats made here in the UK for similar money. You just have to know where to look, who to ask, and what you want
Look at RK. Ryan bangs out lovely bats and his grade 1 is less than 150. Custom is only a little more as well. I know where my pennies would be going if I was shopping for quality on a tight budget.
There's plenty of choice here and in all those little hideaways across the UK we haven't discovered yet.
No need to throw money around at a risk when there's a smorgasbord of quality right on your doorstep.

smorgasbord - nice word!!
-
Bats from Sareen Sports and MB Malik are very, very good value for money. Also, good points raised about smaller brands here making quality bats.
The other day this chap was saying he can get me a custom, 'pro grade' bat and made by a chap from Newbery and for £200. He said that pro grade bats cost £130 to make.
Besides, I'm on of these people that has an Asian bat, a Lever and Wood and an English bat!

Do you mean 22 or are you really saying that online stockist will ship one bat for just 12 quids?
I have used both Indian made and English made bats and frankly it doesn't matter to me where the bat is made as long as I get to pick and it is from a decent source as I have experienced good and bad from both. I won't have a problem buying a bat from online stockist if I get the chance to visit and pick one, I just can't trust them to find me a bat over the Internet.
Generalising all Indian made or UK made bats to be more durable over other is a bit unfair and naive in my humble opinion.
-
22? Yeah, they ship one bat, international for £12. Delivery takes less than 72 hours, pretty decent for £12.
-
Just ask them for pictures. Really, depending on the bat is should be graded correctly, however a we all know you can get really nice bats that are graded as 2-3 ect.
-

Yeah Delivery is £12 quid and it is pretty quick once they ship the bat . Only thing is sometimes it takes time for them to ship the bat after we make our purchase. Worse thing is they don't tell upfront how long it takes for bat to arrive when we place the order. Both time I got told it will be one to two weeks but they took nearly a month.
BTW it seems this thread is converting in to Indian made bats vs UK made bats kid of a scenario , I just shared my experience with both types of bats/sellers.
-
Yeah, lots of people say that it takes ages. On their website they say it normally takes 6 to 7 working days but that's if the bat is in stock.
