Got this of ebay last year. Considering it was atleast 15 years old then (I think) it was in near perfect condition. Unfortunately used it in a match without properly preping it beforehand and paid the ultimate price - crack straight down the bat. The salix royal was the top of the range bat then and considering its in alright nick (apart from the crack obviously), I think its worth repairing if possible. Recon if this is fixable?

Honestly mate I would send it back to Salix. I know Andrew would love to work on one of his original Salix bats. That it fully repairable and I bet with some tlc, oil and a bit of playing in again will be as good as new.
-
The crack goes up the middle of the bat at the back 4-5inches up. Still repairable? I'll get in touch with salix and see what they say :)
-
Although the length of the crack looks sizeable it doesn't look like its separated much. Some glue, a toe guard and some tape and it should be fine
-
wouldn't the crack grow though?
-
Not if you get glue in all the way. Watering it down a touch helps it get in. As with all damages it will eventually go completely but some last ages. No harm in trying

If you want to send it to me I'll get Andrew to look at it for you mate and let you know what can be done and get a price for you to repair.

that's very generous of you mate! has anyone done a similar repair with salix before? would be nice if I have a ballpark price before sending it off to salix - don't want to find out its £100 to repair it afterwards!
-
btw remember reading somewhere that these bats (salix royals) came with a lifetime warranty. this wouldnt be still taken account would it?

Ball park would be about £35 mate. Max would be £45 as that's the most I have seen Salix charge for a repair and refurb.

I can assure you that would not be the case mate no company would ever offer a life time warranty.
-
haha yeh i thought so too but distinctively remember something like that on some website around the time I got the bat!

also anyone know if they still stock these retro stickers, or will the refurb be done with a new set of stickers?
