Post by: bigswingnoding on July 26, 2013, 03:31:28 PM
I bought a GM octane f2 808 5 star. it has gm now but it still sounds dead. if i just play it in at the nets will it improve or should i give it some mallet time?.

Some GM bats can take a while to play in and get going. The term 'open up' is banded around on the forum but you are not trying to cause crazy paving across the face (eventually resulting in the face falling off) just soften the wood up a little.

As a general trend, the more you use a GM, the better it gets. So get to the nets and start hitting.

I borrowed a mates recently that's had a good 6months use. Middle was awesome, but areas still felt unknocked in.

Maybe give areas you think aren't quite open some more abuse with a bat mallet, to move the process on.

And maybe fibre tape the toe. As a 2nds teamer did open the toe in the nets of his not very old zona he'd purchased,
