Hi all - I am getting some lovely thigh pads made for me by George.
But with the bespoke service, I'd like to ensure that I choose a great design!!
Do I keep it plain? Do I get a clever or meaningful quote? Do I get a funky patten? A subtle pattern? Something more personal?
The options are endless!
An couple of examples which sound interesting are:
Blue camouflage pattern with "don't hassle the hosk" quote.
Also the desert camo pattern is decent too!
So what I'm looking for are ideas from you creative people, as I know you are full of great ideas.
If I see an idea I love and use, then I'll send a token gift with my thanks - maybe a pair of gloves or similar.
So get your artistic/thinking caps on and get your ideas in chaps!
Look forward to seeing what you come up with! ;)
-
Id go a bit further with the Hosk or was it the Hoff quotes and eblaze
Jump in my car
I wanna take you home
Jump in my car
It's too far walk on your own
As for background, well what do we know about you - amazing bat collection springs to mind so how about a load of randomly placed shapes in a where's wally fashion.
Ok probably naff!☺
-
Love the Jump in My Car reference...what a tune!
-
I'd definitely go with black inside next to your legs to keep them from getting skanky, dunno what lid you have but I always think the ayrtek raw carbon fibre effect looks good so I'd go for that on the outside.
-
how much is the thigh pad setting you back pete
-
Black inside to keep the clean look then a picture of the Berlin wall being knocked down with a sketch of the hoff then in a speech bubble - dont hassle the hosk (mqybe correct all spelling and grammar so its propper england)
-
Good ideas so far - no right or wrong answer as all ideas are welcome!
Doesn't matter how crazy the idea may sound, just keep them coming :D
-
If you're having any sort of Hasslehosk referance surely it has to include how much you love cricket KITT?
-
HOw about having "The Knight Batter" emblazoned on the outside? Simple, and both cricket/Hoff related

Black inside.
Plain white outer.
Monogrammed PH.
Classy.

Just have this picture on it. Only real men can pull this off.

As brilliant as it would be, I doubt I would be able to carry that off!!
-
Keep the ideas coming chaps - don't have to be The Hosk related by the way!
-
Jump in My Car is song by Australian band Ted Mulray Gang from circa 1974.
Hasselhoff is just a plonker who covered it.

why he would he want a photo of a puppy being molested?

What about Pimping them up with purple leopard print?
Or get magic 8 balls printed inside the pad!
Bowler: Hozat
Umpire: Not out!
Bowler: What?!? He was plum!
Petehosk: Lucky * ball says 'Dont count on it'
After a big shot....
Umpire: Was that a 6?
Petehosk: Lucky 8 ball says 'Without a doubt'
Also available to choose from:
Positive:
● It is certain
● It is decidedly so
● Without a doubt
● Yes definitely
● You may rely on it
● As I see it yes
● Most likely
● Outlook good
● Yes
● Signs point to yes
Non-committal
● Reply hazy try again
● Ask again later
● Better not tell you now
● Cannot predict now
● Concentrate and ask again
Negative
● Don't count on it
● My reply is no
● My sources say no
● Outlook not so good
● Very doubtful

Loving the posts on this thread ! PS I could do a hairy chest simulation of the Hoff which could creep up out of your whites ! but the lucky 8 ball sounds more suiting ! Stomach slightly turned by that nude pic poor dog ! )
-
Ok - took my time and decided on the pads and took delivery of them in time for nets to start! :D
Pics to follow.............
-
A nice bag to keep them in

Removed the normal straps and the additional thicker straps

I wanted the club badge on the pads. But George came up with the smart idea of doing the embroidered badge which had velcro type backing so I could remove them and stick the badges wherever I wanted.
George generously included 4 badges. And if I decide to change clubs, then no problem about having to remove club badges! ;)

Decided on a back inner to the thigh pads to ensure it wouldn't stain easily, as I can be a sweaty git!
Also decided to have a little reminder on the inside of the pads to try and get me focused!

Got them in large size and decided on the right shape for me! George sent me a number of varying shapes to choose from, and even sent some templates so that I could print and try them on!
He was patient and gave his honest advice on some of the ideas I had. His patience was second to none, matched by his service!
They take some shaping but since I saw the clip of not being gentle with them, it has been a lot easier!! They will take a bit of work to get them into perfect shape for my thighs and legs, but thats half the fun.
The protection feels superb and they are very comfortable and light to wear. Needless to say, I have already wacked myself several times with a cricket bat! :o
These will be my main match pads now, and the P2's will be relegated to occasional use only.
Nets start either this weekend or next, so am looking forward to getting them on!!
-
Loving the photoshoot on the long haired rug ! Very Hoff ! :) So pleased you like them mate !
-
Waaaaaay too late for this thread Pete, but with your rep on here I would have thought something along these lines would have been great. ;)
The "I'm Batman" Supercut (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxlf3ad9q5c#ws)
-
They look awesome Pete!
You will love them....easily the best thigh pads out there.
-
Cheers fella - tried them in the nets for the first time and I actually forgot I was wearing them! ;)
They felt really comfortable and didn't seem to restrict movement at all.
I do need to make slight adjustments each net until they fit perfectly but they are 90% shaped to me. That last 10% to get them perfect will take a few more nets and then I'll be very happy!!! :D
-
Absolutely quality pads, the amount of customisation looks unreal! Everytime I see some stretton thigh pads my urge to buy some increases... probably a good time to start saving up now
-
George sent this over a few days ago, left him to do his thing and I'm pretty happy with them. A little different to the norm.

-
Oh no a spelling mistake! Manormanic won't be able to sleep at night if it made it to production.
-
How cool are they!!!!

Such an original idea mate, just wanted to make sure you were aware of before it got made.
-
Glad that you noticed it to be honest. Least they'll be 100% perfect when they arrive. All credit to George, I didn't have much input in the design.
Just like 60's pin ups so he ran with that.

Lol great choice Ryan, interesting to see the results of these bad boys!
Hope your whites cover them up as maybe a talking point for the opposition!
-
Ryan, they are superb :D
-
I remember seeing a precursor to these a few weeks ago, they are fantastic when you see them in the flesh.
-
They are simply stunning Ryan! Never thought I'd be so envious of a set of thigh pads, but they are the dogs doo-dahs!!
-
Mine should be arriving ether tomorrow or Thursday, I'll post some pictures when they do. Haven't seen any pictures of the actual pads so be nice to see how they've come out.
Oh and I've been told they're slightly different then the standard type...move to reveal later.
Thanks again George! !

I'm driving past yours on Friday might have to come and have a butchers if welcome

Sorry simmy you know it's in gest.
They've arrived!!
Very happy how they've turned out, glad they've come out a little darker. Shouldn't show through the whites as bad.
These are slightly thinner, lighter and stiffer than my previous Stretton Fox's . Very impressed, thanks again George they're perfect!

Printing sublimation seems to come out best when theres a good contrast as the texture of the loop velcro facing is hard to print to, but you can never go wrong with a pinup girl !
-
they look amazing !
-
It does open up a huge new world of customisation options now though.
-
genuinely looking forward to seeing a pair like these on Cricinfo - Perhaps you could make KP some adidas/Jessica Taylor ones or something!!
-
We could hold a competition and the winning design gets made :)
