With the discussion topic on chest protectors and the various changes being implemented regarding helmets, the improvements in batting protection and the various aspects of supposed bat technology improvements (however questionable), what rule changes could you implement to reduce the impact of changes favouring the batting side? Whilst "Make all teams bat like the Aussies" probably isn't a reasonable rule change, a couple I would consider are:
Reintroduce the back foot no-ball rule - allows fast bowlers to slide down the wicket and deliver from much closer to the batsman - so now that you've got that protection, you're going to need it more...
OR
Reduce the pitch length to 20 or 18 yards, if retaining the front foot no-ball rule. Reasoning is the same as above.
What are your thoughts on things that might be interesting in this respect?

Change the ball the Aussies are using to a Simple Object Access Protocol to restrict the amount of runs the English batsmen are scoring... Would even the game up nicely I think ;) :D

Start the game with 3 balls.
One normal for straight bowling
1 weighted on one side for extreme swing
1 extremely grippy for awesome turn.
Keep all 3 balls in the field at once, and select which ball you use before running in, so the batsmen has no idea what's coming.
(a variation on park cricket from my youth, where we had 2 tennis balls, 1 with a taped seem, the other with one side taped for swing, kept in the bowlers pocket, to switch seamlessly)

who says the game needs reweighting, other than a grumpy bowler!
I think batsmen should be allowed a life when the have less than 10 runs.
(not really, but I say this to emphasise that a batsman only gets one go, whereas a bowler gets loads.)
-
DRS undoubtedly is more for the bowling side. Those LBWs that were never given are now, especially from the spinners.
-
I think batsmen should be allowed double width bats
-
I think for the benefit of cricket we should remove Stuart Broad.

ah, now I get the idea of the LIKE button!

Hold on Buzz, I like this idea!!
If we are making rules to harm batsman. How about ugly shots only count for half the runs? The amount of times I see someone swipe, hoik, cleave, edge, play a shot with no idea where the ball has gone and score 30-50 runs makes me sad.

On the idea of rebalancing, I don't think the main laws of the game need rebalancing - they are fine as they are. I do however think that two changes to top level cricket should be considered:
1. Make it mandatory to use the entire playing area rather than bringing boundaries in 20 yards all the time.
2. Loosen the laws on ball tampering to permit altering the condition of the ball providing it does not involve a foreign object or bits of leather hanging off!

Okay, but wickets taken with (No Swearing Please) balls don't count either.

Chris Rogers would like that one!
I think that's fair.
Maybe bowlers need to start getting more innovative!

How's about.
"the bowler must nominate which side of the wicket he is bowling from. "Off" or "on"sides" "The bowler does not have to make the batsmen aware which arm the ball will be released from"
This would be like the switch hit, you could learn to bowl left arm, and then occasionally chuck one in as a suprise.

There is nothing better than a fine edge which trickles away to the boundary for 4! One of my favourite shots that...
