I personally think we should go out with the intention of winning, and see how it pans out, if we lose another wicket or two, then a draw is the best result because we wouldnt win from that position.

I think we should play for a draw. If you think about it we have to get 527 runs and then we need to put on another 300+ runs to set a score for the aussie's to get

they should play for the draw, its day 3 n they r what 274 for 7? no point of trying to win it, they could easily bat to draw

I just wish they would play their normal game  >:( don't understand why on a flatish wicket were a no8 makes 60+ we try and play in a defensive mode! If Root had batted like he normally does then he comfortably would have made 50 +.

I'm going to day 5 so I don't care how they play as long as I see some!

You should always want to win BUT given the situation I'd say just bat but play the percentage shots. So no risk cricket really.. Take the time out the game and hopefully make the australians bowl and bowl and bowl and watch harris and co fall to injury

ps - dam well played aussies, showing up englands weaknesses and hopefully people are realising that England are not as good as we think. Well played Bell again too

Been hearing this far too often from you recently, what have you done with the real Adie?! ;)

I think England have to play for the draw in this case, they've been outplayed by the Aussies, they haven't exactly batted badly, but just not quite as well. Hope they manage to avoid the follow on, would be much more entertaining that way. Glad to see Harris and Siddle do well, always figured they would be the bowlers who trouble England most.

Lol

Yeah, fair play to the lad.. he's shown a bit of mental fight this series consistently which is nice to see.

Yeah, definitely the best batsman so far this Ashes, although Clarke isn't far behind! It's nice to watch him when he's in form, let's hope he keeps it up. I've not seen many batsmen look that good when batting!

Clarke looks quality. Bell's always 'looked' top $$$, just mentally was fragile. Still, happy for him to keep scoring 50/100's!!

They should play to win and back themselves! If they loose they have another chance in Australia soon enough =P

Eng should bat as long as they can this morning (and hopefully long into the afternoon) get as close as we can to the Aus score, bowl Australia out for about 70 the knock the runs off. sorted.

the important thing is to ensure there isnt enough time left in the game for Australia to bowl us out a second time.

oh and a draw is worth a win here as it means we can retain the urn.

I suspect that the weather will win after looking at the forecast - especially on Monday!
But if the weather wasn't likely to spoil any chance of a result, then I'd say just bat as long as possible and see where you stand between innings!
Australia are favourites but a draw would be enough to retain the Ashes for England.

I am sorry to say that Day 5 looks like it could be a wash out!

draw obviously!  :D

I think Austrail have a decent chance if the weather stays ok, pitch looks like it might start to go, if they can get 3 poles in the first session, game on.

Really, Bells miles in front in my book, Clarkes had one score on a flat track, with a decent ish base laid out for him...

Not sure that anyone will have a say in it!
The forecast looks rubbish, although they could get it wrong!
