Brilliant news really. Glad to see Australia missing out.

However I really do hate the word Pom!

Leading runscorer in the county championship, hugely promising Australian who would rather play for us.

Good news as i think Root is struggling at opening the batting even after his 180 the other day i prefer him at 6 for added stability in the middle order as Bairstow is too eratic at the moment,

On another note how did you do yesterday buddy as i'm hoping to play next weekend when i get home, plus one of the Lads battered my high score with the Spartan, 63 he made yesterday

As a Middlesex fan I think he will be in the England squad in the next couple of years. I imagine the main issue is England have made the decision that Root and Cook are openers, however if there is an injury he would be a very hard man to get back out of the England side once he gets in it.
I could imagine he could take the Bairstow position as he can also smash the ball about when he needs to.

1) I still want your Spartan!! It's a beast! I'd get it a maiden ton :)
2) Did ok mate, got 55 off 87 chasing 167. I got out on 142 in the chase after my partner decided to run me out :(  Oh well, got me 50 but missed out on the *
3) Get yourself a net friday evening and saturday morning and get some runs buddy

as for Robson. I don't see why he needs to go in as an opener, he could go in at 6 and just 'learn' the international game. Root has been rushed up to opening so now needs to be given 5 or 6 test series to bed in. Then re-assess

1, i know you want it, but i will endeavour to bring it with me when i come down to yours to net again unless ofcourse i get back and i get an offer on it, have you looked at the spartan range as its pretty much the same as the ones at Owzat-cricket as they are stocking the new range.

He was featured in an article in the cricketer a couple of months ago, talking about 4 opening batsmen who are doing the opposite to most young players, and are using the first class route into senior cricket rather than t20. Out of Wells, Burns, Stoneman and Robson, Robson was described as being (I can't remember the exact quote) "perhaps the closest to international recognition"

I think the way forward for "test" opening batsmen is to keep them as far away from the T20 game as possible :)

Definitely, and Robson has only played 6 t20s since he has been at Middlesex, which is since 2008 with the seconds and 2009 in the first team

Lets be honest... You could do with an opener that sticks around for a while  ;)
