Hey guys number one! I was smashed on the head fielding at silly and thank god I had my lid on! There's no visual damage even though I now have concussion, do I need a new one?
Secondly it got me wondering how bad would you feel as a batsmen putting someone in hospital hitting them in that fielding position!?
Personally I still feel its my fault for fielding there so the batsmen should still play his shots!
-
It was a masuri!!

It was a masuri!!
well they recommend changing but id keep it , is it damaged ? surely if its not damaged it should be fine
-
I would suggest you have a good look around it to see if you can spot any visible damage. For your own peace of mind I would change it. Secondly I would have a word with the bowler and ask him to bowl straighter >:(
-
Oh I could have killed the bowler on a wet sticky wicket he tried a bouncer which sai hello hit me! So the batsmen did middles right at me! Haha
-
bet you soon removed yourself from that position
-
Sounds like a valid reason to buy a new lid to me, get yourself an ayrtek! :D
And I put one of my team mates in hospital with a straight drive once. We were having a net when we still had the cage and I tried to loft it over his head, I absolutely nailed it straight back at him, and it went through his hands straight onto his forehead. 17 stitches later he didn't play again and was left with a scar, I still feel terrible about it to this day!

At least you were smart enough to we're a lid! Speak to the skipper about pitting someone else there next time!!
-
All manufacturers recommend replacing after being hit on the lid as per BSI instructions, a blow could have weakened the overall structural strength even if it looks visually intact. (Hairline fractures etc).
-
Thanks for the advice guys! And yeah it has actually put me off fielding there even though I've done it for 4 years!
-
But tbh helmets aren't cheap! At around £50 each a lot of people don't bother replacing it.
-
I'd also love to buy an ayrtek but don't know anywhere I canted one on and get a feel for it
-
I'd recommend just buying the helmet shell, and keeping the grille (providing you were hit elsewhere).
-
id stick with masuri best and only helmet I would use
Can't be the best when an ayrtek is 300% safer ;)
P.S do I get commission for keep recommending your products Tom??

does drop kicking the lid across the changing rooms into the wall count as an impact? lol
-
Quite possibly mate....depends if you managed to get any height on it to convert it for 3 points or not!
-
If the impact was hard enough to give you concussion, I would suggest that the lid is fit for the bin.
But as mentioned, you can get a shell only and keep the grille.
I would see if you cna make do until either the end of season sales now though or the launch of next season's helmets as there will be a number of changes...

funny really since having my lid for 3 years only time i got hit on it was week i got it when pidge bounced me in the nets lol i think an impact at 60-70mph is going to leave the helmet in a good shape.. id only be worried about changing it. if i got hit at a real quick speed maybe! but as my helmet bends and its not brital plastic i think im ok
