Title: How's your run in looking?
Post by: Nato on August 15, 2013, 12:58:11 PM
So we have three weeks left of our league season, and we're currently top of the 3rd division, with what we believe to be one more win required to cement the trophy. All things considered, it's been a pretty successful season for us. I can see us having to work that bit harder in division 2 next year mind! How is everyone else looking? Tight, comfortable?

were in exactly the same position in the B&D senior, if we get promoted it will see us move into a new league outside of the Bristol and District that the club have never reached before. We are due to play 2nd place on Saturday weather permitting so a win would seal the title and promotion.

We have 3 games left and are third. 41 behind top(25for a win)

We play top, bottom, then 2nd from top.

Top have to play us, then 5th, who are a very good side having a bad year. So we are hoping we both bet top, to leave us playing the current 2nd for the title.

If we lose sat, then season deffo over in terms of title.

4 games left, we're bottom (playing 3rd fromt bottom on Sat). Win 3 games and we should stay up. Has been a seasno of consistently bad performances :(

3 games left - currently 2nd bottom, I reckon 1 more win should see us safe and remain in the league that TomTek is looking to get promoted into (hopefully we do as I reckon that fixture could be a good one with beers after!!!)....

4 games left in the surrey championship 4th XI east division.  Currently in 3rd, but no chance of promotion barring a miracle.  Think we would have to win every game, and the teams above lose every game

3 games left. Currently 5th but 40 points in front of 6th. Our league gets split up this year (top 5) and combined with another so important to stay where we are

Pretty pointless at the moment! 4 games left, can't win the league and can't go down. No other teams in the club are in any danger of relegation

5 games left...

we are currently 4th but with a game in hand due to it being cancelled and re arranged then they couldn't get a team.. so waiting to see if we have to play it again or we are getting the points.

if we get the 10 points we go joint top of the league.

I'm looking forward to next season as it looks like the team my cousin plays for are coming down from div 1. That'll be a good game as well, for similar reasons (the beer mostly!)

2 games left, currently 4th. Top 3 get promoted so need to win our games and hope someone does us a favour!
We are playing teams not in the top 4, so we control our fate and hope someone else slips up.

bottom of Div 1 middx
have been there since June..ish

got completley smashed almost every week and heading for relegation

is it a disaster?...no......

got twice as many runs as last year personally(although 2012 was a shocker) and me and most of my team-mates are better players for it.

will be playing a level next year we are actually suited for :)

oh...

got some batting tips off various forum members before the season...they worked

some good advice on here
top 3 for me

watch the ball-really watch it onto the bat
keep your head still
back yourself against any bowlers and be positive

and so not try to change anything avtually during a match-never..just in practice

Same here, although the opposite. We're division 2 standard players (based on the way we've performed in division 3), so should be a very interesting season next year...

3/4 of our sides could go down, with our 2nds looking likely to win the league.
We've just had a very inconsistent performance with the bat across the whole club.

NATO - doesn't Ryan Watkins (ex Glamorgan) play in Div 2?

Good luck for Saturday mate although weather is looking ropey, be a big step for you guys.

We are second behind d7bow's lot in our division with 2 of the 3 bottom teams to play so looking good. Our ten point penalty for missing a league meeting looks more frustrating by the day though  >:(

Truly deserve to be relegated to D from C and surely headed that way with just 1 win and 1 losing draw this season.

Whole array of problems with performances in our club this year. We have only once played full 40 overs and in most matches we are having 4 - 5 ducks.

I personally would prefer to play in C as it is a lot more competitive than D.

Do you foresee your side bouncing straight back next year?

Currently 3rd in KRCL 1A west, 29 points behind top with a game in hand.

Got 3 games remaining against 4th, top and 6th, huge game in two weeks against top which is likely to be looking like the title decider. Doesn't help that the top team are a bunch of w******.

Currently in a relegation battle (somehow) got top of league next weekend, then 2 teams that are down with us after that.

Really need the weather to hold as although we have had a great summer so far lost 3 games either lost totally r not completed due to rain.

Need to win 1 of our last 2 games to have a good chance  of staying up. Otherwise we'll be down   :(

We bagged a win on Saturday in what was prob the most miserable conditions I have ever played cricket in. Wet when we were bowling and dark when we were batting, still, we managed to hit the winning runs with 5 balls to spare that saw us to a league title and promotion to the highest division in the clubs history with 2 games remaining.

Ecstatic with the lads and celebrations meant some sore heads for yesterday's game but have really enjoyed my 1st season as captain.

No play in our division at all on the weekend, which makes us division champions. Bit of an anti-climax, but I'm sure the mood in the team for our last two games will be fantastic. Next year will be hard work though I feel.

2 games left in div 3 of the Somerset Cricket League. We're top by 30 points, but playing away to the team in 3rd on Sat. Squeaky bum time!

From what I understand, there are a few "reasonable" former pros plying their trade in Division 2. This is part of the reason I think next year will be more challenging for us!  :o

Unlikely. We have potential but most of the players lack heart from what I have observed. At least D will give them some practice and hopefully some confidence. I am switching to the top team who are moving up to B. Should be a good personal battle this. I will surely have to give up my opening spot for a number 5, 6, 7 as the new guys are rather good and been playing very well. But at least I will be playing with a lot less pressure.

A reasonable sacrifice to make I think. Will give you the freedom to just enjoy your game, as well as challenging yourself at a more robust level.
