Title: Got hit on the head...
Post by: mini998 on August 16, 2013, 04:14:28 PM
I got hit on the head while fielding at short extra cover yesterday , I  should have used my hands to catch it but unfortunately it went right through my fingers and hit flush on my forehead. I blacked out for a split second but continued playing. Went to A & E today and they did a CT and said no fractures or internal bleeding.

But I still feel a bit funny when I bend or stand up quickly, bit dizzy.

I want to play tomorrow very badly, at the current situation my head hurts when I run. Any pointers to go through tomorrow match without major discomfort?

Then I can have a rest whole next week.

You might not want to but you should probably just rest it for tomorrow. As irritating as it might be, looking after your own health is more important

Rest tomorrow, and be used to some random sudden mood swings, apparently happens pretty often after head trauma! I crashed into a wall while fielding in indoor cricket, dived for one and just kept sliding. Next day I get really angry all of a sudden for no reason and started throwing crap around. :-[ If the doctors say it's fine, should be fine, just rest though and don't do anything too strenuous. :)

if it is concussion then that will probably keep you out for about 2 weeks

Yes and two weeks is what you should rest for if that's the advice. Concussions are no laughing matter, and recovering fully is more important than playing one more game.
