Title: Preferred knocking in method
Post by: Silver Bullet on August 16, 2013, 10:12:59 PM
Growing up I only knew of one way to knock a bat in. Give it a few coats of oil, hit it fairly hard to create a dent then knock in around the dent to create a uniform surface.

I never questioned this until recently when I came across some folks suggesting to not hit the bat very hard to start off with. Start hitting the bat gently and then gradually increase the amount of force you use.

Have I been knocking bats in, incorrectly this whole while ?

Simple answer, no. That's what Julian Milluchamp recommends.

I tend to stick to this to knock in.

Not to forget the gentle rolling of the edges on the bath tub
