Dont think we need more than that to be buzz and his private school boys ;)

What about proper northeners, me, Ryan, Simmy, Liam. Derbyshire is the south to me!
-
Propper northerners! Pah, leeds is in the tropics its that for south from us!
-
That's 9 .... Can anyone bowl?
-
Me and badgerer are Manchester, I'm early order bat he's an opening bowler
-
I can bowl under estimated little dibbly dobblers
-
I normally bowl off spin, I reckon the North V South would be a cracking game
-
Any thoughts on how far north we want this to be played? We could ever get a north side together then play a side like stone cc. By that I mean just play a club as what is effectively a touring side
-
I'm sorry but from what I've seen and know the south would demolish the north
-
What's the cut off point for the north/south divide?
-
That's a very good point. Where are you Tom?
-
What's the cut off point for the north/south divide?
North of Birmingham is north for me although that may reduce the southern catchment area!
-
Its an interesting one. Played with more forum members than most people and I reckon the north might edge it. Simmy, liam, ryan, wilkie, roco are good players but buzz, dean, chris, pistol, procricketer are their equals.would come down to who would be least affected by dropouts. I lost pretty much a whole team in the process of getting 11 just...
-
North for me is to draw a line across the country at day Leicester and anything either side is the cut off. Ideally the game would be weekend and pre season and close to the point point to make travelling easier
-
Bristol, so def classified as south and you northerners wouldn't want me anyway ;)
-
York has some nice grounds aswell as lovely scenery....that could be a great place to host a game however is quite a bit away for some
-
I would be willing to travel over from Ireland for a weekend if the game was played this year
-
Ashorne just south of Leamington/warwick is our ground and very central for most of the uk. Available in september on most Saturdays.
-

We would happily host a game as long as it doesn't clash with our league games.

Oh right, where abouts in York are you? Are you near the main city?
-
A State of Origin game?
-

We are about 2 miles from the train station, just a short bus ride from the city centre or a 20-30 minute walk.
We are also near the Outer ring road so easy for those who are driving.

I reckon that sounds perfect myself, what about others?
-
Will be checking out the pitch/bar shortly on tour ;)
Think a midlands based ground is more feasible for most as a 5 hour drive is going to inhibit some people where as 2.5 for everyone is a bit more realistic

And needs to be fairly easy to get to by train, so bearish the the mainlines if possible.
-
If I'm available I'll definitely play, Tom can drive ;)

I think that's where Ashorne or any other midlands club is handy. I regularly drive to Leeds and it's 2.5 hours, but so is Kent and most of the West Country.
-
I would suggest you find two captains and start building two sides on this thread. Knowing league cricket up and down the country I suspect the 14th September might be the first available Saturday after the league season has finished for everyone.
-
Sunday would be the best for me my season ticket at the football is burning a hole with cricket still being played.
I possibly would play if it not to far to travel I guess
-
I definitely want to play, intriguing to see the standard and meet other people as I haven't played in any of these before
-
I'm on the notts / south yorks border so that makes me a northerner - bowl a bit of military medium so no problem to churn some overs out.
-
I'm injured so can't play this season .... >:(
-
York leagues are still playing on 14th, but I will see if our pitch is free on the 15th so if you cannot find a better time or place then at least you may have one option.
Joel
-
I'd definitely play!
-
I'm northern so I'd play!
-
I'll donate £50 to the winners charity of choice if you can get a game organised... I'd say my money is safe seeing as Nick couldn't even get 11 players for a game let alone 22
-
I've seen a lot of people nominate for the North team....what about the South team....myself and The_bird are in! Can't get much more south than us...Devon & Cornwall!!
-
the only way this would work would be as a pre season game next summer somewhere near a motorway, probably around oxford.
the reality is that we have had 2 games so far as a forum (played 2 won 2). but even with ringers we are yet to field a full team.
-

I'm in Guernsey.....does that count for the South :-)
Not sure I'd be good enough to be selected and would need plenty of notice to arrange travel over....
-
I'm keen! Show some of you lot how to play cricket!
-
That's 4 for the South....me, The_Bird, Bez013 and Ayrtek.....anymore Southerners????
-
There's plenty of us, buzz and I included. You'd need to sort out a date and venue though..
-
I'm in for the Southerners :)
14th Sept is my last league game, also have a title deciding Sunday league game the day after, so if it is this season it would need to be in the week or after that weekend for me.
-
I could be keen for southeners, work and rugby oermitting
-
We need one of these for us people in Dorset Devon Cornwall Somerset. I literally can't go anymore south, unless I get on a ferry and go to France!
-
Count me in boys for the south, more than happy to play and meet some more forum folk.
-
The South is always full of shocking cricketers ;)
Only joking! Reckon this would be a very good day if it gets organised!!!
-
Looks like you are already set for 11 but if need be count me in. West Yorkshire so for northern team.
-
That's 4 for the South....me, The_Bird, Bez013 and Ayrtek.....anymore Southerners????
Al Ridd and Riddy could be a shout.
-
if it is played this year then I'm not able to, if it is next year I would be interested! From the South, Essex way.
-
Our pitch is free on the 15th, but I just cannot see how someone can organise a game pulling on so many people from so many different places in such a tight turnaround of 2-4 weeks.
I would like to see me proved wrong, but I fear this is not going to happen this season.
Anyway, to whoever is organising, if you cannot fond a more suitable location/venue. Drop me a PM.
Also, depending on location, I would be interested in playing, but don't mind either way.
-
Can't believe no-ones mentioned me!!! I've been based just South of Malaga.
By the way, this will only work if you base it in the midlands (Nicky Saunders could help with a club possibly) plus 2 x nominated captains working from a squad of 16 players each - both previous games have resulted in only 9 people turning up.
By the way, the genuine quality Southerners I have come up against include: Buzz, Tomtek, Soulman, Vulcan, Hell 4 Leather, Canners. Silly-Shilly and myself.
That should be enough to thrash you working class Gravy -Guzzlers!
-
Hmmm....do I class as a Northerner or a Southerner here?
I mean, I live in the South...
...but couldn't be much more Northern if I tried!

Hmmm tough choice! If you can't beat em join em - join north mate

s'tough isn't it, especially for a founder member of the Yorkshire republican party!
-
I'm in Manchester so id be more than happy to play. Lets show these fairies how to play cricket
-
I'd be happy to play for the South if selected !!!
Based in London
Used to play Surrey championship now only playing Sunday cricket due to work commitments !!
-
I would be up for it, from Norfolk now living in Cambridgeshire so makes me a southerner.
-
I'm keen! Show some of you lot how to play cricket!
Does no-one think I can play or something :( lol
-
Last league sat game for me is on 14th sep but. Still have. Sunday league game left till last week of sep
-
Last league game for me is 14th sept
They were keeping you quiet as the surprise ringer Bruce
-
As all the only thing between me & France is the Isle of Wight I'd like to be considered for the South team.
(Depending when & where the match is being played, then depending if I can get the time off work)
-
I think I'll be back from holiday by then so count me in.
-
As a newish forum member, this sounds a cracking idea. Possibly a two legged affair home and away each year.
-
Nick if you get it organised for Ashorne I'll be up for playing, plus I'll bake a cake for tea! What more could you ask for?
-
If its at Ashorne, surely the club captain gets a go straight away???
-
I heard club captain gets 2 goes at batting and the choice of ends when bowling!
-
I need 2 goes sometimes!!!
-
Sometimes I find 2 not enough!
-
Not organising anything chaps, just suggested ashorne woild make an ideal central location and is available on a few dates in september.
Up to somebody else to take the lead on this.
-
sorry to be a dullard but this game will only happen if we have two captain volunteers.
we also need about 30 players willing to pay an upfront match fee.
oh and I am unavailable due to being on holiday.
p.m. me if you are willing to organise/ captain.
-
im in liverpool ..
-
For this game to realistically happen its going to have to a pre season game next year or even post season September 2014 game
Takes a lot of organising and a lot of notice for people to make it
-
I'd prefer to play next year some time. Any way of putting a poll to see what suits everybody best or something?
-
Im only 16, so not sure many of you would want to be skippered by a 'young whippersnapper' :P but Id be willing to captain the southerners if no one else will...also, Id be well up for this game.
-
Same I'm only 15 so would prefer someone with a little more experience to captain North so we can slaughter the Southeners....as usual ;)
-
I'd like to make myself available for this. Can play any time any were. I'l play for either side since I live in Scotland!
-
Guys, look at some of the previous comments - it's not availability and willingness to captain that is needed. It's someone to organise it - and that's a tough job that no-one seems to have put their hands up to.
People drop out and mess you about at the last minute, it's not like captaining a club match!
-

Sounds exactly like my club???
-
If you drop out 7 days prior to the match you get erased from the forum
-
Guess from the posts and finish of leagues etc it sounds as though the only weekend for a ground / forum member availability is either the 28th or 29th sept (with some clubs still playing the 21st & 22nd) is that to late with the weather turning and a more suitable date pre-season / early season and a return game the end of next season?
-
I'd be up for this next season. This season is a little hectic. Also be willing to help out organise things/captain/shout at people if needed
-
That's 4 for the South....me, The_Bird, Bez013 and Ayrtek.....anymore Southerners????
Yes, count me in for the South (even though I am originally from the North - is that an issue?!) ??? :)
-

Sorry Paul , I think that makes you illegitimate to play ;). You any good at umpiring or scoring :D.

Sadly, I am only good at raising my finger to controversial lbw appeals... :-[

Lol think we will be nice and let him play for the south :D
-
I'm pretty much as southern as you can get (50 meters from The Channel) in Shoreham, Sussex. Would love to play - but sadly can't really put myself forward to organise.
-
Can play for the south if needed
-
I live in the South but i'm from the Midlands (which is the North down here) so i'll make myself available for south?
-
Just thought I'd update this to see if we could get a CBF North v South going?
-
"if you organise it, they will come"
(in theory :))
-
Depends on the venue but I'd certainly be keen for it! Living in London and I'm from Worcester so fully a Southerner by forum standards!!
-
I'd be up for it.
What are the best dates/venues.
-
I'm right up in the North east which I imagine will be to far for southerners to travel to. Does anyone in the midlands know any nice grounds? Also someone said they would offer their ground in york as a venue, how many people would travel to York just out of interest
-
Hi
It was me, I am sure the pitch will still be available, depending on dates.
Saturdays are out, as are some Sundays and Wednesdays but generally the other days would be available with notice.
Weekday or Sunday?
Time start?
Number of overs/timed game?
and Would York be a suitable venue?
Like FattouschCattousch says, if we can get someone to organise it, it would be easier.
-
Bit of advice, based on experiences of organising forum stuff. You need a captain for each side. They need to be responsible for managing each sides participation. You also need a ground. Bear in mind that weekends have league cricket, which may get in your way.
Calculate what it is going to cost you before you even start so that everyone who says yes knows what they are committing to, and make sure that you have an escape clause with any ground. There can and will be drop outs...
-
most leagues wrap up mid sep
-
Surely in situations like this a game in the midlands would be much easier with it being, obviously, in the middle of the country.
It is probably to late this season but if you get something on paper then next May/June on a Thursday could be a good bet
-
It would be lovely to see one of these games up north for a change.
-
I agree...would be nice to see a few CBF posters play
-
reds game in sep at ur ground boom get the party started boy
-

I'm really southern and would struggle to get to the games arranged down South, flying up north may be the answer! Haha
-
I'm with Ryan Yorkshire way would be spot on but as always first things first is 2 captains are required!
-
I will skipper the
North bar another break if people let me down I can bring up to 6 players
-
That's a good idea then Dave as your bound to get dropouts!
-
I'll throw my hat in the ring to skipper the southern team. Maybe a midlands weekday venue for next season and home and away fixture for 2016. Any southerners interested?
Any sponsors willing to throw some attire in?
-
I would be interested to represent the south.
-
Lots of offers to play and skipper.......................
can't see any offers from anyone to actually organise it, which is once again the key problem to this ever taking place.

Our ground, Ashorne, is pretty central. Just south of Birmingham and probably less than 3 hours drive from most places in England.

Agree - though I would of assumed the skipper would get the team together?
-
That, my vertically challenged little friend, is a huge assumption!
-
Yep seems in middle nick I would be happy to drive up for a game
-
i would happily drive to birmigham area for a game.
-

Same here, prob 3 hours from Essex.
Is that the sound of wheels creaking in to motion?
-
