Received the pads very quickly (next day) they were well packaged with lots of bubble wrap so of course they arrived in pristine condition.
As you can see the pads are identical to the Canterbury Cut pads as the people at Ayrtek developed the pads then sold them to Canterbury.
The pads are very light around 550g if I remember correctly? Much lighter than my old pads and sure to make me run faster! In my opinion these pads look class although Im sure I'll get a bit of stick from my teammates this weekend.
If there is one problem with them it is that they are too flat and not curved enough, I have put elastic bands around it and they appear to be getting more "fitted".

I like the design of these pads - whats the material used on the front, is it the anti-bounce facing? I'm sure Ayrtek will be able to answer, but what kind of protection does it offer compared to the competition?

Have to be honest you'd look a bit of an idiot walking out in those haha! Suppose, if your a crap batsman, the sledging would be focused on the pads rather than you as a batsman ;) Not a bad thing:)

Shilly, High impact foam is used in the centre panel, Benning field tested them when we first had them designed and was happy to take one in the shin at 90mph from the bowling machine down at the Oval in the nets, so that was good enough for us. Cant comment on the competition as never given Obo/Aero a try the right angles on their pads seem a bit much to me though.
Leo- Glad u got some runs in them on their first outting! think everyone who wears the pads got some stick when they make their first appearance!!

Well if its' good enough for Benning then it's good enough for me - 90mph is a ridiculous speed anyway! Having tried on the obo's i can apprecciate your comments - they would take a lot of getting used to. Look forward to seeing more of your gear next season - have you got many stockists yet around the uk?

Havent lined any stockists up yet as been concentrating on the helmets. Something to look into over the winter and see who's willing to stock the kit i guess.
How did you find the Aero pads? they seem very rigid to me but difficult to judge from my perspective.

I have only tried on the aero gloves - which i thought worked well (i think it is a pretty decent concept) - as for the pads, they do look rigid and i think they would simply play on my mind whilst batting (i.e. bat getting caught in pads, playing off your legs etc) - though they're designed to protect your legs and im sure they do a good job of this.
At first i wasnt a huge fan of the ayrtek helmets ( i likedned them to american football helmets!) - however, several months later i have grown accustomed to seeing people wear them and i think you've produced an excellent product, i like personalisation options for the helmet - it's a unique selling point which is always advantageous!

Yeah it was something we had a long debate over the exterior shape. We could simply have put the new technology into an old style shell but gaining exposure for this would have been difficult as it would appear to anyone seeing it as a normal helmet. By having a completely new shape it meant that we could design something from scratch that has been designed with a purpose behind it.
The removal of the ridge in the peak section means that if taking a blow the ball will be deflected rather than stopped by the use of a right angle in the peak section. Also as mentioned above it is immediately noticeable as a different helmet to what others are wearing and can be noticed as an Ayrtek branded helmet.
We are looking at a more traditional shape now to accommodate the people who feel the modern shell is too much for them.

i have tried both Aero P1's and the Canterbury cut pads.
i have to say they both provide equally good protection and are both as easy to run in. however the Cant ones did feel comfier on their first outing and felt more natural to bat in.
marginally better in my opinion.
also the Aeros attracted more and higher quality sledging!

Slogger nice to hear the opinion of someone who has tried both sets. Both companies are looking to evolve the equipment market and as such get some comments from parties who prefer the more traditional look and feel to equipment.
This is something we have taken on board and why we look to offer both the modern and traditional equipment as part of the range we offer.

Pads are still awesome, getting much more fitted and curved. Much lighter than my previous pads.

Leo on your previous comment you said the pads turned 1s to 2s and 2s to 3s . . were you exaggerating to make a point or do they really have that much benefit? I have always stuck to traditional design, firstly as i prefer the look of a traditional design and secondly, any benefit from a modern pad would be out-weighed by the amount of stick i would get from my team mates for wearing them! :)

Put it this way you can always take singles that would have been risky, I am defiantly nearly twice as fast between the wickets now.

VKS superlight and they were by no means heavy!

ye ive felt them look weird but they are light, these canterburys ones must feel like nothing!

Ive personally used both types of pads Aero and Cant ones, i moved away from Aero as i found them not to my liking regarding the feel and fit. Used the Cant version all of last season and found them to be very comfortable and great protection, i do agree with some comments which say perhaps they could wrap around more and be slightly more fitted.
Still use the Aero for nets etc and I've not had any problems regarding comments made about either brand however id say that's down to me personally being the way i am as my nephew got plenty of stick when playing for Northumberland wearing his Aeros but he got runs so he was ok however he has moved away from them now.

One of the main + of the areos is the wrap around leg, but cant that work against you and if they are not perfectly fitting they would be uncomfy?
