Yep, kosha. awesome signing for adidas !!
Title: Re: Addidas sign tendulkar

so his newbery bat is going to have adidas stickers on it now - they must have paid big bucks for him to endorse their gear!

Maybe it will be his SS stickered or maybe he'll get the best of Adidas'. I doubt there's many who truly know what he's using at what point, he must get 100's of free bats his way.

which is made by some one . . .
Title: Re: Addidas sign tendulkar

Tendulkar has always had a endorsement deal with Adidas for their shoes and apparel. So it was logical for adidas to extend the association.

Also I read somewhere that only companies who have in-house or contracted manufacturing of equipment are allowed to put their endorsements on the bats, softs etc. (basically on equipment). This is the reason why everone from MRF to Britannia to Hero Honda have contracted either SS or RS or SG etc......

btw, Nike equipment will be available in the next season ...at least in India.....

i can gaurentee he wont use addidas soft goods
Title: Re: Addidas sign tendulkar
Post by: yvk3103 on September 04, 2009, 08:57:53 PM
he wont. He uses Morrant pads with MRF stickers and BAS gloves. Soft goods will remain the same except for the labels (i guess so)
Title: Re: Addidas sign tendulkar
Post by: Tom on September 04, 2009, 09:05:13 PM
I would hope Adidas change their range to accomodate him. Produce a Tendulkar line of goods, with his own stickers, pads and gloves. Would be a big seller in India.
Title: Re: Addidas sign tendulkar
Post by: yvk3103 on September 04, 2009, 09:11:02 PM
They don't have to do that. MRF bats are huge hit in India - any guesses why? Just because the little master endorses them......

Also they may have to pay more in terms of royalty to the Little Master if they take out a specialist ST line......

But quite possible....... Fiat came out with a LE car with S10 and his signatures on it. Sold for 60% more than the normal car and 3-years of productions booked in the first year itself (limited to 100 cars only)

“I have had a fantastic partnership with adidas for 11 years. I have been using their clothing and shoes. Now, I will use the bat and pads too. The bat that I use now is lighter than the one I used in 1989. But, I have not drastically changed the weight of the bat,” said Tendulkar at the launch of the adidas range of bats and other cricket equipment that will hit the market in four to six weeks.

Adidas India MD, Andreas Gellner, said that inputs from Tendulkar, Australia skipper Ricky Ponting and Indian opener Virender Sehwag would be used to make the customised bats for the market.

Tom is right about him getting given 100's of bats a year, 500+ from makers, mainly from Indians as they want him to have the best and to meet him but also many batmakers will take him bats and then boast of making for him, M&H for one. However he actually buys bats from one person despite the freebies.

Having a hammer edge on a bat does not mean that it is a Newbery. Not that I am saying that Newbery do not make bats for the "Little Master", maybe he likes the hammer edge sheet and may have bought some from Newbery along with his bats. However, if you see most of his bats he still has either a clear antiscuff or the fibertec facing.

Anyway he is the most sort after cricketer in the world and no batmaker would like to loose the opportunity of making a bat for him.

Just saw this thread. I played with Paras Mhambrey (Google him) in 2006/7- he was my overseas player and club coach for a couple of years. He is also Sachin's best mate and used all his "hand me down" kit. Tendulkar actually uses some really big BAS Vampire bats, obviously with no markings. Always has done. If you look at the profile of his "new" Adidas bats, it is the same as all his previous gear.

Yes, but only to say that he has signed for 5 years as he feels he can play for India for that long and nothing else has changed apart from Adidas being far more media savvy so doing lots of adverts in coming month's. Plus will meet him when next in UK.

What do you mean 'for once'? The guy has 4800 odd ODI runs at an average for 50 and strike rate of 90. It's not he plays for not outs.

you get angry too easily  ;D ;D ;D

but you are right and hat what matters - Dhoni is immense! probably the best striker of the ball in od cricket but he can get so much power and keep well - i have been told to not build my muscles as i will lose the flexibility needed by a keeper.

the meat on those bats make them look so small!!

the profile on the 2 bats looks different. The one on the front seems to have a slightly higher middle and the one at the back a very low middle. Also the one on the back seems to have a much bigger profile.

Again case of all edge no spine..... but it works...

Judging by the top of the handles and the bow in the bats, none of these look like the Newbery bats posted earlier in this thread....

A question for our resident bat makers - would a bat maker require a bigger cleft to make such a profile? What would be the specs of the willow required to make these monsters?

I feel achieving these massive edges in a 2.12-2.13 bat should not be a problem...

Talisman has one of Tendulkars bats and i'd pay alot of money for that bit of art- it's flippin impressive and looks identical to the profile on the picture shown above - Yash, why do you presume by the bowing on these blades that they are not newbery? With regard to making a bat like this out of a cleft, i doubt the cleft was any larger than usual, just light clefts - just very little to come off the back of it when shaping, easier almost!

I wonder why he has so much taping around the edges, a laminate perhaps?
