Title: Original or original le?
Post by: Ben robinson on August 21, 2013, 04:07:00 PM
There is only £20 difference in the junior sale and I was wondering should I pay 100 for the original gm or pay £20-25 more and go for the original le? ???

I was going to buy a gn because my shark I bought a while ago is not very good, but instead of going with gn I am now going to go with a gm.

And in answer to your question, save £20. Even the 808 is a good bet, so my advice is go cheaper rather than expensive

buy the one with the best response and the one which when you pick it up gives you the most confidence regardless of 808, 909, Original or L.E. sticker.

that is the advantage you get with buying "off the shelf"

do try to buy the bat in person too.

Sorry for so many posts recently, does anyone know if owzat cricket is good? Is it safe?
Cheers

Owzat cricket is the biggest retailer in the business, you are certainly safe from fraud etc.

Whether it is 'good' is a whole other ball game. I had some less than savoury experiences with them before I entered the cricket business. About a year ago i highlighted the fact that they incorrectly list grade 2 bats as grade 1those listings are still there so to me they are not particularly trustworthy. They are also unlikely to have handpicked their stock due to the sheer numbers they operate, so the quality of bat you get is pot luck.

If you are going to buy from owzat, save yourself some money on postage by buying the same thing at the same price from their sister site cricket supplies, who offer free delivery.

Please remember this forum only exists because of sponsors like ourselves who pay a fee every month to advertise here. a lot of us spend a fair bit of time here and provide members with a great deal of advice/insight as well as some fantastic products at great prices.

I live less than half an hour from owzat.

They are pretty big place, have lots of stock in house, and some very knowledgable people working there. They are also happy to have a chat and a natter if popping in.They refund, and accept returns also. So no issue on that front.

But as mr vitas says, I truly don't believe they hand pick there bats. I have seen some beauty's in there. But also a few dogs.
I would happily by from owzat(as i do if things are needed quickly) by taking a trip down there and having a look and play with the bats myself.

If I was ordering offline, then I would go to itsjustcricket, or vitas themselves. As I know they hand pick the bats. And the chances off dog, are minute. In fact with these two, id risk purchasing a lower grade at then usual, as I know they've hand picked it for some reason. Get a gun of a bat abit cheaper then.

Softs is another thing, I'd happily order softs from owzat online. As its less ofa lottery than a bat feeling right.

Depends where in Kent you are. It's likely to be Beckenham Cricket Specialists if you are in north Kent.

Cook and Matthews sport in Chislehurst high street is a good place to go if based in the Kent area too.  Pretty certain he handpicks all his bats in there and I've never had any problems with them either.
