Title: Master classes
Post by: pablomarmite on August 21, 2013, 08:28:11 PM
The sky master classes have been interesting and they should keep doing them they are great. Found the Bell and KP especially interesting as a wannabe batsman. Bell talked about his trigger and having his weight on his back foot and how that allowed him to pounce forward. KP talked about the importance of having his weight on his front foot and that allowed him to pounce back to play the short ball. It's no surprise that Bell plays the cut shot so well and KP never plays it all, which he even joked about that he doesn't even practice it. We would all agree that both are excellent and successful players so it is interesting to hear how different their set ups are. No doubt many will say stay still and be balanced on both feet. I have played around in he nets with weighting on front or back foot and is something I recommend trying in a net situation, not in a game. I am talking about weighting and not triggering, my feet don't move just my knees and body slightly. Found early on weighting on my front foot gets my feet going. Later in session i use weighting on my back foot which is great for slogging. Haven't used it in games just nets hopefully with more netting will try to implement one or the other into my game permanently.

I found it interesting that kp says he pre meditates every shot!

He pics where it's going and how. And if it's not there, will defend. Quite suprising as every coach has told me to never premeditated anything.

KP is a freak of nature, like many of the great batsman (I think he is probably up there now) and I wouldn't necessarily use him as a role model!

Warne's masterclass was unreal, just wandered up bowled one outside leg to hit the top of off (similar to Gatting ball)

Just ridiculous how good he was!
