Surprised by the lack of interest in this, thought this one was particularly interesting

What I think is interesting is that I've never seen a galaxy handled gm on eBay. Suggests they didn't last that long...
What's also amusing is that not a lot has changed. It's still about grains and light weight!
-
Is the galaxy handle not illegal these days?
Gm mentione best tight straight grain bat. And it's painted white. He'd you know if they lied without sanding?
Also the woodworm ad ith "hell 4 leather" amused me
-
I remember all these ads.
Especially the Saint Peter ads with Tony Greig.
Those SP gloves and Pads were crème de la crème when I was growing up.
-
Aaaaahhhh yessssss my powerspot classic... I loved my powespot classic... And my Gn Elite Limited Edition
-
The comments by the author of the article had me rolling about, the Robin Smith advert for Chase is my favourite.
'I was a bit wary of this brand until I saw Robin Smith sat on the light roller with his thumbs up, now I must have all of their products.'
-
Who were SP's target market by getting Tony Greig naked with a bat in his hand?
-
Cracking find Tom!

Thought I'd add a few 70s and 80s pictures from the article, interesting stuff (appreciate not all are bats but who didn't have test match the game when you were a Lad + the B&H is just amusing) - things have moved on (ie GNs product placement on sky)

Heavily Aussie influenced!
I remember all those ads...especially the early ones out of Australian Cricket magazine. I loved that publication!
And yes, I had Freddie Trueman's Test Match as well!
-
did you really just quote all those pictures?

What's also amusing is that not a lot has changed. It's still about grains and light weight!
That's not surprising. They were only around for a couple years; 1981-82. The Newbery company had a similar idea for one of their bats, but I can't remember the name
-
Was it the cobra? I have a newbery with a resin handle from a club mate . He picked it out when newbery were at northiam (80s) lance cairns was down there getting some bats he picked it out for him and said to him 'this will be the best bat you every have'

Gray Nics bat in the background of a Kook advert?
Kookaburra were exclusively a ball manufacturer those days.
The bats etc came later.
