Title: New Salix Bat
Post by: iand123 on August 27, 2013, 01:06:32 PM
As mentioned in my other thread, my wife bought me a Salix custom bat experience. Called on Friday and picked the bat up and its a belter. Dressed it ways in at 2lb 8.45oz and i cant believe the size of the bat and the weight. Its a players grade bat and safe to say i'm pretty pleased with it :)

Lovely photos but you're not getting away that easily, we need more details! What spec did you ask for and did it alter during your visit to Salix.

You wait until you start using that pinglicious Salix in the nets for the first time! And once it's knocked and played in!  :o
That's a yummy bat fella!  :D

I asked for a 2lb 9oz with a lowish middle as the standard i play at the pitches aren't great. I think the middle is pretty large so should cover that.

Other than i asked for a players grade bat (despite the guys at the workshop saying that a grade one would perform just as well if not better than the players). I got a choice of stickers and grip (went for the black salix hybrid).

Looks like a beauty, lovely straight defined grains and profile. I've been really impressed with my AJK, which is about the same weight and although I've been out a lot of the season with a knee injury, she's made a shed load of runs for me :)

Hmm it was pretty pricey so not sure its "value for money" but i think i know the point you are making

They are indeed expensive...a team mate of mine has ordered a distinction at 380, couldnt get on with it very well and now has an amplus at 300.looking at the custom experience im presuming you have the specs you want.
The above may be an extreme example but for top of the range i personally think salix are the best
Theres no doubt bats these days are expensive.
Maybe a higher priced bat sometimes is better value long term
Im not sure myself-i buy second hand bats, just putting it out there
This does look a beauty
Good luck with it hope it goes well

Looks a beautiful bat there mate! I think the finishing on their bats are hard to beat. I think you have made a pretty good choice there. Yes they are pricey but worth every penny.

Ian, this thread was an inspiration! My wife and I popped down to get a bat made up on Saturday. Really enjoyed the experience - went for a G1, can't wait the 10-14 days until it arrives.

I must say it's a pleasure to have visited such a fine setup. Only minor blow (not to the wallet) was no pod one gloves in MLH left...

Ha glad I inspired!

Mine was ready 7 days after but I did email and ask so imagine it would have been longer if I didn't ask!

It's a great experience and the guys at Salix we're really helpful
