Title: NEWBERY THRUXTON 5 STAR
Post by: mini998 on August 27, 2013, 08:02:15 PM
NEWBERY THRUXTON 5 STAR BAT AT JUST £100

http://www.newbery.co.uk/news-article/newbery-thruxton-5-star-bat-at-just-100 (http://www.newbery.co.uk/news-article/newbery-thruxton-5-star-bat-at-just-100)

I've seen this mentioned couple of times on other threads... I got few questions.

Did anyone buy one of them(from this offer)? Do we have a say in the willow quality before buying or is this s complete blind buy?

How is the '5 star' regards to the quality of the willow and number of grains wise?
Are these Ok for low bouncing pitches we have in UK?

Don't go of the pitch type for the swell position! It's been proven that a batter hits the ball in the same place on a bouncy wicket and a slow and dull wicket mate

Funnily enough, I actually disagree with this, as I found that I actually hit the ball slightly higher in nets compared to grass wickets. You can say it's me imagining things, but it is genuinely how I feel, even after Crictech's theory. The Thruxton shouldn't be too bad, it has a long middle from what I've heard, but is ideally suited to people who play slightly lower down on the blade.

Oh right, that's interesting mate. Just with my cric tech sheets I was hitting in the same place on the blade each time on different wickets and nets.....looked like a plonked using it in a game lol

Thanks mate , Just had a look , yours seem like a nice stick.

Really liking the simple profile of Truxton ,  very tempted to go for this £100 offer.

A guy in my club has the thruxton players and it goes like a train! The middle is endlessly long and it only weighs 2.8. If i didn't have an RK I would get one.

lazza,
not that surprising really. If your'e churning out thousands of bats a year you might want to have different styles of handles to choose from, as they will have slightly different playing properties. Also, the cynical aspect of me suspects that certain companies might provide handles as to avoid any association with Newbery and the fact that they make their own 'handmade' bats for them......but that is a very cynical view :)

I rang them, said they only have bats with 3-5 grains on 5 star . I personally like bit more grains so not gonna buy a 5 star .Just a personal thing really.

These are probably the best value bats on the market at the moment and even better at 100 notes. This offer has been running for a few wks so not much left to choose from...

mine turned up this morning - looks amazing for £100 - looking forward to seeing how it goes -  great pick up for the size and looks a decent chunk of willow.

sorry about poor images - bat has 7 grains (which is spot on I reckon for a bat you want to play for a few years) -  weighs in at 2.12.6 (asked for a 2.10 - but thought it was until I weighed it due to pick up - so not a problem) -  all in all very pleased -  will need a fair bit of knocking in mind

I see 7-8 grains are available for this range

when I rang them, guy on the other line said they only have bats with 3-5 grains.
